My Bedinungen for a good mouse are:
- Ergonomically pleasant
- At least 6 additional programmable buttons, ideally for macros
- URGENT wireless, since I have a pullout tray remain where Kabelmäuse always hang or fall
- A good and reliable configuration software
Now for Mad Catz MOUS9
Packing:
Wooooow. Geil made. No annoying blister and wires. Just the two Klebchen cut with scissors and you have open the stable and streamlined box. Getting the solid aluminum base of the clip was a little tricky, because you're afraid cancel the lever but it went (and later back inside) without harm. The package will not even dispose of because it is also a good storage box for later. Here definitely great praise
Initial Setup:
So once wanted receiver ... and found the same in a pleasant Klicker bottom of the mouse. Shortly after pressing and then he comes to a counter. Directly via Bluetooth unfortunately it was not because my dongle only supports BT 3.1.
So dongle into the USB hub, switch mouse, notice that even the battery is missing: D is in the package with the instructions, unfortunately a cheap NoName alkaline cell in AA. Because I would have liked at a price of 82 high-quality Energizer or Duracell, The MX also an expensive and good Eneloop was back then when. Inserted battery and then I remembered the first shortcoming, the extremely cheap and unstable acting screw cap cover for the battery. Whether the last long ... I do not know.
Software:
Oh oh here it is sad ... The download and installation were not a problem. One would like to be able to pack driver and software in a package but that was not an obstacle. Both installed, checked whether the driver was installed correctly for the unit, so everything ok start. At first glance, seemed the Profiler as a trainee and Photoshop Apprentice cobbled together little program. But did not care as long as it works and you know how it goes. The commands are as usual from the Logitech Gaming Software Again, drag 'n drop simply pulled the keys and then saved via "Apply". First of all easy to the first test the disillusionment came because almost nothing worked. A pair of Windows 8 commands as the Charm menu went home to call the system replied with a non-reactive "Ding" sound. The Zoom command is also not not respond and the other half as well.
Well ... if that will not dictate, there is still the manually programmable combinations. So created manually (Win button for start, Ctrl + [+] Zoom etc) and voila it worked. Only much too complicated in my eyes. Reason was also fast: The software does (as with any other really well) so to simulate only keystrokes, but unfortunately with the layout of the US keyboard. Thus most of the commands to go running with special characters not ... So much for the theory trainee.
Then came the biggest disappointment. Something Battlefield played with many different profiles Manual and it turned out that the game just a few commands that are entered correctly, are not working. In addition, the mouse WEHE MENT refused to occupy the lateral tilt scroll wheel with the manually specified Funtionen and resulted exclusively from the lateral scrolling. But I want to change so quickly in the game between primary and secondary weapon, which is impossible.
And another Fail: The Lateral thumb button can be used as Precition fashion. If you hold firmly to that DPI is rotated to a set percentage of down to make precise movements. Good thing that works well, just does not distinguish between the driver click and hold and once you get there also specifies an action, it will be triggered even when holding. You have to decide whether you want to select the Precition fashion or an action for the thumb key so themselves. Really weak.
So my bottom line value for the software ... catastrophic and little more than a star.
Handling:
So personally I must criticize the painted surface of the red model for me. While I give it no deduction, since it is easier to clean, as in another review and is a matter of taste, but I like it no longer once you get sweaty hands. The adjustable palm shelf is gorgeous! A step backwards and the mouse sits comfortably in your hand. Unfortunately I had the problem that the mouse has turned unconsciously left off and you had to correct the hand repeatedly. This was probably due to the previously mentioned surface that provides enough grip in wet hands. If you look at but once you get used to the small contact surface, the M9 is really nice, though it does not serve up some MX.
With the precision and the connection there were no problems ... a single abortion I had days in the 2 that I tested, but was not reproducible. I suspect it was the hub of cheap occasionally times has hiccups.
The only hardware complaint are the clicker. Firstly, these are VERY loud compared to other mice (both MX and the G700 Logitech are much quieter) and secondly the buttons springs sometimes click on the what is clearly noticeable and yet may cause more noises.
Conclusion:
The Mad Catz MOUS9 is quite a hell of a mouse. Failure it does to 90% of the software and to 10% at the loud and rattling clickers, and the cheap battery cover. As already mentioned I'm looking actually a replacement for Logitech to come away, but with a software when not even the basic configuration works clean, which is simply unacceptable at a price of about 80th
- Processing and Feeling (5 *)
- Handling and precision (4 *)
- Functions (2 *) -> because hardly anything works by Software
- Software (1 *) -> necessary grace point
Actually, you would have to give the mouse a maximum of 2 stars because most of the advertised functions just do not go. But the mouse is still good and if you omitted macros or broken functionality for 2 additional keys, it is definitely a good and cleanly designed device. For my purposes (90% desktop tasks and n few games), however, completely unsuitable.
