a) Three star would mean: "Not bad."
Since I am not satisfied, it would be too much.
b) Why unhappy?
Besides the Spanish saffron can be found on each spice bag of posts originating from India spices, the imprint:
USAGE
"Do not consume unkooked."
UTILISATION
"Ne pas consomer non-cuit."
(= Not consume uncooked!)
Does that mean I can eg the chili or the Madras curry for example, about not harmless sprinkle on a bread with cottage cheese and then eat?
What happens if I do it? Do I have to reckon with intolerances or will even sick?
c) The spices were also probably stored for some time.
The shelf life was, despite packing in sealed bags of just only 12 months (October 2015) up to 18 months (Apr. 2016).
For Comparison:
I have come from another spice trader on the same day spice mixes get (among other things also with chili, curry, etc.).
The only clip closure sealed, otherwise open bags of a merchant keep all about four years, although they are made unirradiated and without preservatives. Also a warning against raw consumption does not exist there.

Among the spices themselves:
Lovers of Asian dishes can be satisfied with these spices yet.
They smell pleasing aromatic and should therefore be an acceptable HOWEVER COOKED treat.
