Yoshi's Iceland for the SNES is for me one of my favorite games. It has picked up the Mario series not only Baby Mario and Baby Luigi (Schenkelklopfer?), But also especially by a new art direction and a lot of new ideas that have also had an impact on gameplay. Yoshi was briefly flatten in the air, swallow enemies and thereby produce eggs, which in turn brought by a simple system quite strategic battles and some nice puzzles, but also various transformations in vehicles - each with its own species - could admire. The targeted use of effects - like a bedröppelter Yoshi when he touches spores - also showed what the SNES so everything can make of creative things.
The two successors - Yoshi's Story, which is only removed pretext - and Yoshi Iceland DS could not convince me entirely so. While each had its moments, but the genius of the first album you never came in my opinion, even though I look for attributing a big plus Yoshi's Story Yoshi Iceland and DS for additional babies, each had their own skills. Yoshi's Touch and Go, as well as Yoshi's Gravitation Unversal clip at this point the way even aware of.
Now to Yoshi NEW Iceland. I already feared based on the first trailer, because the level shown was almost a 1: 1 copy of the first SNES levels. Well, quite so, it is then but not because the worlds and levels in Yoshi's new offshoot with bring enough autonomy. Nevertheless, too often this "Oh I know but" feel factor, even if you only know the SNES version, because it is based mainly one. Exactly that is a shame because both the intro, the entire game after and the Ending INCLUDING end boss you will permanently overtaken by the SNES past and know several things at once. As has "Link Between Worlds" more than clearly demonstrated how it could have gone better, because although here the term "near-remake" true one has at least built so many new things here, which is also in the gameplay, the story, and of course then at the end still knew how to surprise you. Since bringing a few innovations like giant metal egg clearly not enough fresh air to this series.
Graphically one can hardly complain. The artwork, even in Wachsmaloptik are excellently captured. Well, it may be true that some backgrounds do not quite fit into the colorful worlds, but it's somewhere bleating at a high level. However, what is noticeable too nice 3D effect. As seen in trailers it happened almost too often that Yoshi visually of things is where he really is just at this moment. So he flies on a plane around on the really ought to be more in the 3D mode. This has in some places so absurd that you want to turn off the 3D mode. Annoying because whole lot of things are displayed uncanny plastic. As the mode of the game anyway offers no playful added value - it's just "only" 2D - could dispense with the absolutly.
When sound I am somewhat divided. Since Yoshi's Story Yoshi run through the games, the main topics so persistent through the whole game like a dog pile on the shoe sticks. Again, this is the case and it can stand out negatively, no matter how many variations of this theme is an ascended. In my opinion, that's a shame because the SNES offshoot had many different themes, although eventually recurred sometimes, but seemed exhausted not so fast. What may seem a bit strange: The music was underlined with some "toys sounds". Quietscheenten and jukeboxes are as the lesser evil. It remains under line a "hit and miss".
Laudable are the Yoshi sounds, especially if he has wings and flapping through the area. Here you really have to suppress a giggle sometimes.
Kudos also goes to the controller. She is always very soft and much more fluid than in previous offshoots. That knows how to please just for the slightly slow New Super Mario titles. The vehicle sections in which Yoshi turns into jackhammer, sleigh and Co, ailing since by gyro control something, but they are still pretty good control. They are also only one small spreaders and no continuous standalone level, indicating get over some general lack of gyro control.
For multiplayer I can not say at this point, because once again I do not have this dedicated myself!
Yoshis New Iceland is difficult to assess. I find this part much better than anything that has so far come to the SNES title, but then at the same time very on SNES titles that do not like a lot of fun arise so bad about missing incursions into me. Music and cuddly look can furthermore also be a bit daunting and the "chit-Image" is favored by the fast earning extra lives, as well as some other little helpers. Challenging it, however, if you really want to collect everything in each level, which for ever has a great charm.
The game is good and you can recommend it, but veterans of small dinosaurs could be disappointed. With two pressure-closed eyes a "Like" the more than keen on a "not bad" vorbeschrammt.
