On this album you could really be interesting, because after the fat-produced works from the late 90's the last CD was indeed rather minimalist and 60ies oriented. So what's next? Now, in this panel the sound as a whole is already much larger than on the "Eat Me, Drink Me" without reaching the force of albums such as "Mechanical Animal" or "Holy Wood". For the acoustic guitar is brought out of the closet, which is used effectively in many pieces. The songs that got stuck right in my memory during the first hearing, were the loose and casual Played "Leave A Scar", "Four Rusted Horses", which is rather quiet, but still impresses with pounding beat, and the very beautiful slow "Running To The Edge Of The World". Also good is "unkillable monster" because of its combination of slower verse and chorus rock. Right rocking it in "Wight Spider" and "I Have To Look Up To See Hell" that convinces very rocky in slow 6/8-clock. In "We're From America" it pays to pay attention to the critical text. The rocking "Arma-goddam-f * cking-geddon", which is published in advance as a single and indeed necessarily must contain the terrible F-word, so that Mr Warner is its reputation as a bad boy, is also okay, but not the best song on the CD. Although the plate is much rockier than its predecessor, it unfortunately has the shortcoming that the quality of the songs do not always come up to the last. So many pieces are in the course unfortunately uninteresting and boring, such as the 9 minute "I Want To Kill You ...", the disappointed musically. Nevertheless, lets Mr. Manson here a good album from the stack, which has after the exaggerated sound of the penultimate plate and the sparse sound of the last plate have found a good compromise. I would highly recommend it.
Who provides the version with bonus CD, experienced six songs of the album in remixes and alternative versions, which for most means that most of them were imported only on acoustic guitar. Interesting to hear that Manson songs also work this way. But that's probably something for fans who do not get enough from their star.
