I say more about this mythical goal, except for a slightly higher price 70-300 IS USM you've got an L, that is basically a manufacturing quality, optical and thus image without equivalents. A constant openness to mini 4, ideal for outdoor use, an absolutely phenomenal dive this from f4, zero aberration to any focal length (unlike the 70-300 which is limited from 200 ..) and the USM is amazing: accurate, quiet, fast, MAP is done in a snap and almost silent. Add to that that it is a closed lens (= less dust entering a zoom pump such as 70-300), the lens hood is supplied and that is not bad at all. (To get an idea my photo throttle fully open at 200, made in the undergrowth, posted in the examples) Only drawback inherent in this price is that as soon as the light falls we can not shoot (or provide a tripod when you are shooting under 200). And so it remains confined to outdoor use only (or so include a tripod) But it is also clear that when touched to the "virus" L, it is hard to reverse ... the next, for me, it will be stable release (400 euro more still ... ), I do not envisage any other goal in this range. In conclusion if you have the means, that the characteristics match your use, and you hesitate with another goal, council and only one = DARK!
