I have tried myself to the steering wheel so far in 3 games. NFS Pro Street for PS3, Driver San Francisco for PS3 and Grid Autosport for PC. GT5 (PS3) and Shift 2 (PC) are pending. I simply do not have time; :-()
In short: Pro Street I no longer want to play differently, Driver has not recognized the steering wheel (That would certainly have made mighty Gaudi.) And Grid controls completely different from Pro Street. There I did not like, but could be a matter of habit.
Lang: need to control a steering wheel to be used only once. Initially one overridden in the curves a lot and has to row, resulting in zigzag lines on corner exit. Thanks to the engine in the G27, the opposite holds intelligent and makes you feel for the centrifugal forces, one has the car but soon super control. (It helped as I have not tried to brake with the clutch :-))
Most menus are with directional pad and buttons on the gear shift operated, so you do not always pick up the controller or mouse. Then the shift lever and the buttons are used on the steering wheel for the R and L buttons on Sony's console. (Not exactly convenient.)
The force feedback of the G27 is excellent. When I was no contact with the ground at Pro Street in a speed race for the first time and my steering wheel is almost entirely panned has it just felt horny. Really to 200 km / h Puckelpiste.
In normal race you can feel exactly when the steering axle loses grip. That's the way it has to be.
Negative points are unfortunately also:
- Firstly, I do not have the steering wheel of the PlayStation button with which you conveniently power on the console and may turn off. So man must always be ready a controller. And this controller will then experience shows ever player 1 assigned, which in certain games (Pro Street not) can cause problems.
- That is to rotate gear lever and steering wheel buttons to the steering wheel ... well. In long curves Switching / Nitro ignite / banana throwing bombs / whatever is possible only with crossed arms thinking or knotted.
- The construction of the steering wheel is complicated. And all mount circuit and pedals to the steering wheel, steering wheel for power and USB port firmly so that it does not wobble. Here again, the reference to the Wheelstand. Steering wheel, pedals and circuit are firmly mounted and you have only to USB access and current care.
Everything bitched only at very high levels. Therefore, the steering wheel is not less good.
Whether a steering wheel to fit whatever depends on the games you want to play with it. And as these games a steering wheel support. Mario Kart with wheel is nonsense. Micro Maschines well.
Pro Street as a mixture of arcade and simulation feels good, but you can not adjust the steering wheel according to his wishes. For this, however, the camera perspective, depending on the racing discipline. So you drive Drags and drifts in Exterior to see what the car makes and Grids and speed in bonnet camera.
In Grid Autosport as a simulation you could adjust the steering wheel and pedals margin percentage accurately. The default setting is 20% and steering wheel game uses the full 900 °. I was not used to and am driven by a sandbank in the next. Well later.
Conclusion: I have the impulse purchase regret in any way. It makes real mood to ride it.
PS: Man I'm looking forward to Oculus Rift. \ M / O_O \ m /
