In advance: There is not much to say, but because it has little functions and would be intended for the home used with WLAN or hotspot on longer trips or work.
Scope of supply:
- The Archos 97b Platinum HD
- Micro USB cable
- Charger / Power Supply with attachable connectors (EU, US etc.)
- Quick Start Guide and Warranty Card

Very good, except for one little thing!
The housing consists almost entirely of good grippy aluminum, which feels very valuable and promotes cooling.
Just down the transition to the display is a plastic bar (as I have seen so like a iBrett ;-))
The connections are stable and not shaking; the buttons are a little small and a little harder to press, but this is not bad.
Lack: The display appears to be inserted relatively cheap and not close to 100%, all edges for aluminum housing, the display itself seems to have no good scratch resistant surface. However no rating trigger ... this is to get over with the price range yet.
The display:
Very impressive! 2048 x 1536 to solve this sinister and beautiful in the picture is clear and strong! Viewing angles are also very good!
It can be viewed from all sides from very wide angles and the image fades or hardly gets dark.
And as far as the exterior and good. Now for the interior ...
Operating System:
Android 4.2.2 drives the tablet to ... like a Mopet a 38T trailers.
You can feel almost anything about the 4 cores and 2GB RAM. The picture draws partly very gradually the menus open often in a Ruckelpartie. For nearly 300 one can indeed expect a miracle, but the system, the kernel and the model must have been programmed together from chimpanzees. --- Minus 1 star
The configuration options are fairly bregrenz and should probably remember iOS. For example, you can not customize the menu bar from the top and otherwise nothing big change on the appearance. Background rest yes, no. Nor is there any power saving mode or options may increase performance. (Eg by reducing the animations)
It is a bare Android, but is not even ROOT activated (although this now more goes to the hobbyist).
--- Minus 1 star
I want to and can also deduct any further star for the availability of Custom Roms, but I am not able to find suitable rudimentary Rome for this tablet. Therefore it is not possible to test my device with a decent system.
Power:
Angrybrids Space worked perfectly and looked at this resolution of extremely well, but moved with inputs for something.
Browsers like Dolphin responded quickly, but also attracted the scrolling and zooming by.
WLAN:
I reached to the wireless network no more than about 16 Mbit / s, which is already weak. (In a test with my 100,000 line and a Fritz box 6360 Cable.)
Speaker:
Mediocre, although they sound loud, but they rattle and some oversteer at maximum volume. Otherwise, the sound of this size is quite acceptable in stereo to watch videos. For listening to music rather unpleasant.
Battery:
I've hung out of the box directly to the system PSU and started already with the configuration and testing.
Here I noticed that he uses more power in the two updates, as he could take. This is typical for tablets, but also not a shortcoming.
The battery seemed to have discharged very slowly while I was surfing at full brightness and tried Games after full charge. So he made a good impression.
Conclusion:
It is a well-made tablet, offering for this price fabled Hardware. It would be very good for many applications suitable if the operating system would not.
Who takes bucking and delays the presentation purchase, get a nice, portable tablet.
Otherwise can be so determined look super videos and transfer them to a television via MiniHDMI. Perhaps it is enough for office work, but I suspect not for elaborate design of presentations.
I can recommend it if anyone can ignore the regular jerking and tightening the menu!
Who, however, with a little more claim goes to the cause and a permanent liquid and low-latency Tablet wants, must lie significantly more money. Not because of the hardware, but the wegem beschi ***** Archos operating system.
Like I said, a good custom ROM (Android operating system) would make a more expensive tablet superfluous here !!!
(If I'm wrong and it is still on the hardware, then a commentary on it would be very helpful! Mostly it is in fact the bad software that pull down the performance with a quad-core with 2GB of RAM, in this case determines the very high resolution. )
Rating:
Thus, 3 star for the fairly good workmanship and a perfect look.
2 star deduction for software settings.
Buy recommendation: Yes, referred to in the Conclusion Komprimiss, otherwise no.
