I tested after I recharged the battery pack, the basic functions:
Photos in automatic mode, zoom and macro shooting.
The photos are for a compact camera perfectly fine - there is nothing to complain about.
The zoom is relatively fast - also without problems.
Now we come to the video function:
Battery full, camera, video feature is enabled:
Display shows: Battery low Please invite ....
Very strange, I thought, ok, back to the Auto mode:
behold, display shows battery as fully charged.
Back to Video mode:
Battery empty, please load .....
After some research on the internet I realized that this
a bug in the firmware is. So: Case opened at Canon and the
Problem described: Answer: Please update to version 1.0.2:
the joke is that the 1.0.2er firmware already installed on the camera
is. These things I have written back to Canon. The answer from there is still
from.
-----------------------------------------------
Solution of the problem:
1. (temporary) way:
average battery contact taping or black with a Edding.
This has the consequence that for the camera, the battery is "always full".
Disadvantage: if it is empty, the camera goes out without warning.
2. (almost perfect) way:
Take a MicroSD SDHC card with adapter and insert it into
the SD slot of the camera. Proceeding now to video mode, works
everything without any problems and the battery level is displayed correctly !!!!
Why you can solve with this approach the problem is me honest
said cryptically. The only difference from MicroSD to "normal"
SD card: pin 9 is not used here!
---------------------------------------------
GPS function:
After starting the function, the location is correct in the exif
the pictures posted.
Like all GPS receivers this is not exactly energy efficient. Hence
Disable when not in use is best.
---------------------------------------------
WLAN function:
The connection to my router via WPA2 went without problems.
You can load a variety of external services Photos:
- Flickr
- Google Drive
- Facebook
- Twitter
- YouTube
- Canon Image Gateway
- Send them directly as an email attachment
--------------------------------------
First, install the Canon tools. To this end, but not using the CD, from the special Canon website
Download the software! The software on the CD Camera pimped on an expired SSL certificate,
which although then can be re-downloaded, but is incorrectly installed on the camera.
You can use any web services on the camera without a valid certificate!
-------------------------------------
Insert camera via USB to the PC, turn on the camera and call the Canon program "CameraWindow DC".
See "Camera Settings" -> "Setting Web Services" can be found then the upload services
you should use with the camera.
To configure this, you have to free the Canon Image Gateway register. For this purpose,
automatically be prompted by the program.
It then selects the services that you want to use and set its access data.
Thereafter, the program synct the settings on the camera.
That was nice.
Disconnect camera and change via blue "Play" button and thumbwheel "WLANn" in the Webdienstemenü.
Now you see the services which have been configured previously.
Unfortunately I did not manage to get up and running this:
While I can choose and select to send the photos, only it passier nix:
The progress bar remains at "0" - there are no images uploaded to the Internet.
After some time (estimated 30-40 seconds), the camera comes in a "time-out" and
separates from the WLAN - but also connects again.
This I did not succeed in both Google Drive and Canon Image Gateway.
This I will also again requests the support of Canon.
--------------------------------------
Temporary solution:
I connect with my tablet and the free app on the PowerShot camera via Wi-Fi.
I see the photos made on the map, it may select and then charging via this tablet to the Internet.
Naturally takes longer because the photos are only loaded once via WiFi on the Tablet and after
only on Google Drive.
--------------------------------------
Summary:
Great technique with partially grottiger firmware and stepmother treated chapter of web services.
Price / performance I would still describe as well.
One can only hope that the guys from "CHDK" offering custom firmware for this camera soon.

04/28/2014: Update: Support for Canon battery problem:
Officially fixes the 1.0.2er firmware the battery charge level indicator in the video mode. Unfortunately, this does not solve the problem! I leave this to Canon Japan eskallieren: from there came the Lappi dare to say that you should ignore the display - the video function would work anyway.
A statement that I did not expect from the part of Canon! Apparently, the "small" cameras and their firmware is not worthy of further development for Canon ...
