Even the PowerShot SX700 exceeded (really very good) Sony something in the image quality.
So naturally I was very excited about the Canon PowerShot SX520 whose data but even more impressive sound (42fach optical zoom is still quite a bit ...).
Basically, the SX520 the SX700 almost identical (resolution, chip size, display, software / service).
The case is of course different designed, the flash is powerful and has a different (better) angle and, last but not least, there is of course the really good and powerful zoom lens that the SX520 makes for even stronger "Super Zoom".
I want to save me, here the complete, technical capabilities / features of the Canon perform again.
This can bring in experience elsewhere.
I want to play with my review a clear assessment of a not quite inexperienced user.
As usual with Canon, also leaves the SX520 a very good quality impression.
The housing is very comfortable to hold and is not quite as great as it suggests the product picture.
A clear strength is, for my taste, clear and, above all, manageable control layout.
Even less experienced photographers will cope well here and access to the main settings easily.
It rises above the "FN" or "Menu" button more deeply into the user interface, then you realize that the software has a very simple and well structured.
About the command dial can invoke all sorts of automatic programs and most importantly; the SX520 allows complete manual adjustment!
In this price level such extensive settings are not self-evident.
But now the most important thing, the picture quality.
Here also the SX520 makes no weaknesses, I find the picture quality excellent.
I also feel that the objective of the SX520 is sensitive to light than that of the SX700.
Due to the size / light intake is also logically comprehensible.
As already mentioned above, the flash of the SX520 is highly efficient and low-light conditions, the images are better illuminated.
The position of the flash is optimum, there is barely visible shadows behind photographed objects when, for example is a wall in the background.
In majority, direct comparison is the SX520 clear winner in image quality.
Although it must be said very clearly that the SX700 is really good.
Both cameras are top and play in the same league.
Where you have to consider even that of larger zoom range usually takes its toll in the photosensitivity.
But as already mentioned (better sensitivity to light), you do not realize that in the SX520.
Even at full zoom, the image quality is very good.
Among the product images I set a recording from the waxing moon.
I take pictures like this for testing purposes.
I have to say that I've never done here recordings in such detail, it is with the SX520, just super!
Still worth mentioning:
Of course with such a large zoom range and the image stabilization has to do something.
This may be the optical image stabilizer the SX520 definitely!
Also, the HD video mode is at the SX520 class and makes a normal camcorder actually superfluous.
Conclusion:
Anyone looking for a really good superzoom with very good image quality, makes the purchase of the Canon SX520 HS PowerShot definitely no mistake.
The price / performance ratio is excellent.
From my clear recommendation!
