Of course, the detection of the device on the network is no problem, but if I had simply need a storage device, I would have bought an external hard drive.
The first concern is that you download several applications: one for the installation, one for file access ... at least that is what we want you to believe, because in essence, anything can done without these apps, design a little further backlog.
The second big concern that arose in me was to be able to see the NAS from "My drives" of my Freebox Revolution (v6). Until you find the need to activate a "DLNA server" mode on the NAS and Multimedia enable mode on a shared folders ... except that in doing that, certainly the NAS is detected by the Freebox, but it keeps no hierarchy of NAS files, for example if you have sorted your movies into folders (eg Comedy, Action, etc.), and well all your movies will be shown in predefined folders named "All videos", "Recently added ", etc ...
My third big worry was that I wanted to remotely access the NAS from my Macbook, namely to appear in the left column Finder as shared component. Honestly, I spent nearly ten minutes, I scoured the forums, and it never would work. The Network Management menu under their nice UI coverage, remain very explicit ... and no port of choice is possible. Therefore, when active remote access, port 80 is used and can not be changed: this means that anyone can type in your IP in a browser and access your NAS as long as you missed an episode in securing phase.
In short, I come out very disappointed, it's not worth a good Synology master in the field.
