But the focus!
Loud and slow! AF accuracy rate was approximately 50%. After about 100-200 shots I have the thing packed unnerved in the quiver, and it has disappeared only once in the drawer.
For over a year I have the 70D. This is often described in forums for their AF weakness in fast lenses so under f 2.8 through the viewfinder in the middle field. Just to test to which I have this thing for the 70D dug again, because it is my only Fast aperture.
And here the disillusionment: AF is almost never true (70D) and not with other focus areas. But that is not the weakness of the 70D. So try on the 500D again: do not want to also!
So let's switch to MF. The (too small!) Wheel wobble and feels as if sand in the gears. Can not be, I care for all my photo stuff extreme, the 50s was never in an outdoor application! Creaking and jolting. Can an objective only because of prolonged non-use (properly stored) damaged? Should not, but apparently it is. At least for me.
But shame on me: I have perhaps unwittingly turned into AF position times the focus ring? This can only happen when you insert into the camera bag. Some lenses are something resent. Then please do not repeat! It now follows in this part in Neuzustand__
__my conclusion:
Positives:
A 50 fixed focal length with good intensity. If AF sits the figure is adequate for the price.
Neutral:
Pay attention to operator error see above!
Or just prone ??
The plastic bayonet is sufficient!
Negatives:
is cheap, looks that way.
AF -> Micro motor is slower than the 18-55 kit (not the STM) and pumping strong!
AF -> bad hit rate
AF is noisy, thus virtually not at all suitable for filming. (USM lenses are also yet to hear here really just go the STM variants!)
no stability!
Actually, I'm usually on the quality (not by the pricing policy!) Convinced of Canon, but here that have not covered themselves with glory!
Maybe I caught a Monday device, I would not buy it for 5 more times.
