For our New Zealand trip we were in advance in search of these same "traveling companion". Since we did not want to be used for scientific but for our personal observations of nature in our journey the binoculars, it was clear to us that we are looking not at the price and quality class of a "Zeiss", nor a "Swarovski".
By, in retrospect, very lucky chance, we came across the consistently positive reviews for the Olympus 7 x 35 DPS-I. These were also the reason for us to purchase these binoculars.
We can connect us without restriction to the descriptions of the basic details and versions of our previous reviewers!
This extremely convenient Olympus glass excited indeed across the board!
The glass is very robust and is also smaller in female hands perfectly in your hand. The weight of the glass is absolutely appropriate and falls, even if you wear it on extensive hiking tours around the neck, in any way into the proverbial weight. The illustrations are bright, crystal clear and razor sharp. Even at dusk, the glass is properly used and offers a perfect view on things. The focus can be easily operated and therefore suitable also for the observation of fast-moving objects. The perceived as fundamentally disturbing light in the Okukare is prevented by the rubber eyecups. A blur on the edge of the image we can not confirm.
Even the included slightly padded bag has proven in our journey as a perfectly adequate. It is equipped with an easy-open Velcro and also, we binoculars, with a carrying strap.
The supplied covers for eyepieces described "easy to lose" as we have seen from the outset as "transport security", and they would have never used anyway. The bag is in our opinion completely sufficient here as a protection for the glass. At least it made our New Zealand trekking test unscathed, so that we can use for our outstanding domestic nature watching it now.
We are also in possession of a very heavy weight binoculars of a competitor, which is the price for Olympus glass is higher by a multiple. The much more favorable Olympus really beats the "heavyweight" in all respects!
In short, the Olympus binoculars 7 x 35 DPS-I is a glass with an unusually favorable price-performance ratio.
For someone who is as we look for a robust, compact and perfect binoculars for nature watching, this glass is really the perfect companion.
Therefore, we can in all conscience give this our full and absolute buy recommendation (5 Stars)
and wish all buyers of 7 x 35 DPS-I also many beautiful observation hours!
