I bought this cable release to no longer having to stand with a stopwatch in addition to the camera during long exposures. - Fulfills the purpose.
Here is a summary:

+ Combination of all modes possible (ie, x sec exposure with distance from y sec for such images)
+ Long exposures well above max. Convenient to use exposure time of the camera
+ Interval function much easier to use as a camera-internal (eg could not be combined camera-internal interval function with bracketing - it now meets the cable release)
+ Simple tripping (without timer settings) can be without battery and switched timer carry (as with 'unintelligent' cable triggers) - big plus for me
+ Lighting very bright

- Setting a long tedious hours - here would be event. creative benefits of the four-way Cross offered to bigger jumps install

* Works perfectly on Pentax K-5
