Internet Radio Top, Media Player Flop

DNT IPdio Tune internet radio (FM tuner, Wi-Fi, SD card slot, USB 2.0) (Electronics)

Customer Review

Here is my experience with the dnt IPdio Tune.
For me, only the following functions were interesting in the evaluation:

A) Internet Radio on LAN (WLAN untested)

B) Media Player (MP3 files via USB flash drive and / or SD card in the device, no streaming via PC, that PC is turned off)

Positives:

very quick and easy LAN installation, printed manual enclosed, very good, crystal-clear sound from Internet radio to your stereo (FM untested).
Also channels with low bandwidth (30 kbps) are very well reproduced.
Sound of MP3 files via USB / SD is also very good.
Device is processed valent (aluminum front, buttons u. Good quality switch, good tactile feedback)
Display Readability and dimmable well.

Goes so:

Remote quite creaky, had a layer of foam between batteries and inside the battery cover clamps so that the lid does not constantly annoying rattles.
Station storage / management via reciva.com OK, Stations of reciva.com but not particularly relevant, miss some channels.
Power switch back of the device, the front would mE much better.
In standby super bright red LED on the unit lights, why ???
(Standby time is on the display, which reached yet)

Negatives:

Volume control on the unit u. On remote controls only the earphone jack!, Ie since the various radio streams often come in with different volume I have to change channels usually with 2 remote control on my amplifier to readjust, in the long run very annoying.

Main drawback: The Media Player is a disaster:
It is not possible to switch betw. USB and SD, device packs all files easily together.

Readout of 1GB mp3 files (10 albums, which is not much indeed) takes about 1 minute. Was then the network separated by the main switch, is carried rescan.

The files are read completely confused. Device sets example arbitrarily to multiple folders with the same name.
MP3 songs with titles in large print are created as empty folders.
For some folders, the song titles are included, the next time the device folder, the title can just go away and numbered only 01, 02, '..

I had read about via USB 10GB well-stocked files what an eternity lasted. The device mirrors the folder / files were stored so chaotic that it was no longer getting along.

The DNT telephone hotline, which I called, gave me this, the following statements:
A)
Yes, the confused reading the data is known, but there is no way to influence this (perhaps only 1 folder with a few titles read)
B)
The device is indeed primarily a Radio (Media Player only secondary function?!)
C)
In the near future, no software update is planned for this device (which could possibly solve the problem one way or another)

Total nested menu structure and cumbersome to use.
Just one example (of many, unfortunately):
eg all 25 favorites radio stations are stored in a folder. Leafing through the folder down and has arrived at the last station I would expect that then the 1st station appears. But no. At the end of the folder is final. If one wants to 1st transmitter back so you have 25 times 'up arrow' key. (To DNT: Ever heard of software ergonomics is one?)

Another example:
You have in the folder mayhem finally the desired music found so before playing this must be read in a playlist. Now I want to spontaneously move to another title as in the playlist listen that will not do directly.
Over several menus you have to jump back now first. Delete the entire playlist. Over several menus back to back Folder Chaos. Find new title, recall them in a playlist, etc. etc '.. annoying, annoying!

Conclusion:

Who wants to hear only Internet radio with some favorite channels is with the device
very well served, precisely because of the top sound and proper processing.

If you want more (Internet radio with more than 15 channels, large USB / SD music collections) quickly reaches the limits of the device, the handling is then in the nested menus and the very long Einlesezeiten totally annoying and confusing.

Internet Radio: 5 stars, Media Player 1 star, overall results: 3 stars
