The MFC-7820N prints, scans, faxes and copies behaved as it should. Everything is working fine under Windoze as well as MacOS X ... only the fan run time (11min) annoying.

As stated in other reviews here, although there is a menu item "energy saving" and you can also this wonderful set to 1min but this has no effect on the fan. This was also confirmed to me by phone from the Brother Customer Hotline. O-Ton: "It could be that an independent customer service which makes the firmware, however, violates the guarantee". My 7820N föhnt both firmware "G" as well as after the update to the current "J".

Summary: Not unbedigt a device's living room or bedroom but nevertheless a "reliable brother".
