EXPERIENCES WITH THE AUTO FOCUS
My first negative experiences with the AF have been confirmed:
Even with perfect lighting conditions freezes the AF one more. Since no zooming helps back and forth, the AF remains on the background, even when the subject covers the full field of view !!!

In landscape studio and made recordings that's no problem, you can adjust the scene and turn again. At events, sporting events, weddings, etc. But, the shots are sometimes useless and clueless with its 300-Euro-clippers that delivers sharp images, of course, laughing themselves dead. This is a serious limitation, and one would have to do this, remove at least 1 star. Something goes not at wedding photographers and other commercial operations.
Of course, you can switch to manual, but this uncertainty is very disturbing and can be manually without using a tripod, do not really get a calm scans as when AF because turning the lens-ring but causes more anxiety and can be seen in the photographs.
In addition, the EVF does not record sufficient detail to judge the sharpness. We shot in parallel with the PJ780 and the CX900 at horse shows. IMAGE QUALITY
This brings us straight to the evaluation of image quality and although based on recordings in the field and not in the laboratory.

But what the CX900 can better quick manual intervention to master difficult conditions, such as opening or aperture close, change the shutter speed or play around on the sensor sensitivity. So changes can be relatively fast exposure and contrast of your own design.
Both camcorders are also very good night scene. Perhaps the CX900 has a slightly less noise, but they are not worlds apart, not like the soon-coming Sony Alpha s that turns night into day and ISO 204800 Leifert still good, usable shots!
Also, the stabilizer caused me no enthusiasm. I think even that the image of the PJ650 and PJ780 is made more efficient quiet as the CX900, where I am already at medium zoom to the 4-5 x with posture and breath control must make an effort in the highest degree. Running around with the CX900 without Steadycam is a real challenge and in difficult terrain is nothing without Camera Cage or similar device. Today I complete my review on the subject of "Zeiss lens of the CX900".

Optical zoom:

The objective of the CX900 has fabulous properties. It can zoom in pretty good not only to clean and 20x to 24x, it can conjure up to a few cm distance and clear shots.

Focal length and focus
There are 2 issues yet when it comes to the look of the CX900:
- Auto Focus and Manual Focus.
- Focus / Sharpness level / Bokeh
The AF funktionniert slow and soft, depends obviously on the transitions that you know from movies and TV, ie soft. This is commendable.

Today I complete my review on the subject of 1-inch sensor of CX900.
Most of you will be able to do anything with this inch, inch and mm-information and to ask whether the sensor of the CX900 is really such a great part.
What does this mean and where this sensor is compared to known cameras such as a Nikon D7100, Sony RX100, Fuji X100S or Micro Four Thirds (Lumix, Olympus).
Can you really get a lot of quality of it as the advertising promises, or the technology is fully exploited?

The sensor and all the CX900 is a castrierte version of FDR-AX100, with the same appearance and the same electronics, but there with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 at 25 frames / second, effective 14.2 MP at 16: 9 a data rate of 60MB / s and a photo resolution (in Photo mode) of 20 megapixels in 16: 9 (5968 x 3352).

I do not want to invest a new computer and thousands of euros for image editing.
The signal / noise ratio with 1920 x 1080 gives enormous reserves in the rendering, the CX900 can film completely free from noise at +24 dB gain. After that comes only +30 dB and infrared.
But honestly, from 15 dB signal gain of the night sky, and even the whole scene seems completely unnatural. Who needs it anyway? Highest for scientific applications such as Egyptian grave or hell research!
If you look at the photographs of the AX100 and CX900 precisely, one notices that the sensor and the whole system (like the optics before and the signal processing behind it) is overwhelmed in any way, no matter by what situation. Me have impressed even recordings with high light contrast: It looks as if the camcorder is able to illuminate dark corners and dampen bright spots. In a motor vehicle with interior footwell eg nowhere dark corners were displayed.
Interestingly, I found the comparison with other video camcorder top class until 2011: It is clear that the CX900 better contrast and higher saturation - speaks better, brighter colors - offers. I did not quite understand but I believe this, because all recordings bring a visual confirmation.
Overall, I found the exposure, contrast, sharpness and color reproduction at a level which is otherwise known only from professional devices. This is certainly not only the merit of the sensor and the signal amplification / processing. The Zeiss optics with its 62mm entry lens is certainly responsible. I must say a few words about it here.
What this does is look simply "breathtaking". Sharp pictures from a few cm distance, filigree details of objects in km-long range, indoor and night shots, Focus on the entire Seffeld or Rack Focus with soft bokeh ... there is seemingly nothing that this lens can not.
For this, the extremely effective stabilization and the possibility, for example, a Pol-Circ filter to screw on denm 62 mm threaded with amazing effects and contrast enhancement.
The liquid slow motion at 120 frames / s. This camcorder will give me a lot of fun.
So I'm pretty speechless and sat in front of my screen to three clock in the morning.
CONCLUSION
The CX900 is impressive in almost every way. It is a well-rounded of the sum of individual outstanding properties of each construction section: optics, sensor, signal processing, viewfinder, use ... Everything in itself quite impressive but in total just fascinating. Now let's see how Panasonic and Canon respond.
For this reason, I will forgive the rip-off with the software and the idiocy with the accessory shoe generous and increase my rating to 5 stars.
