With the album Boombox Beatsteaks try to change and say goodbye to her unmistakable grandiose Punk style of recent years. Ne age, really ken Punk more in it - ok maybe, Title 8 "Behaviour".
The new orientation can be found in songs, and is sometimes even succeeded. The album begins with "Fix it" quite far from everything I had gone previously heard of the Beatsteaks, but fits this heavy, uncomfortable, noisy, stubborn, but captivating song to the steaks. Reorientation fits! So even if "Milk & Honey".
While poppy, but there are the good old Beatsteaks sound again. The only catchy!
"Cheap Comment" is not worthy of comment. "Bullets From Another Dimension": Here you wanted certainly connected to "Limbo Messiah". But is only partially succeeded. Especially the instrumental accompaniment of "Spread the news all across the nation firing bullets from another dimension" annoying. Title 6 we skip a try.
"Access adrenaline" (for me the best) and "Behaviour" are one of the better songs. Great lyrics, a lot of rock, so fast guitars and a lot of vocal cord by Armin. Something like that, maybe I would have consistent Boombox presented in my dreams.
"Automatic" is a torture!
Damn what's that? Stodgy Reggae-pop!
"Alright" and "House on Fire" make me re-conciliatory, although songs in the vein of "House on Fire" can be found on every second-rate indie Brit pop thingy album. I am just as torn in my conclusion, as the style of Boombox:
It's more pop, shallow, melancholy, it is washed out, lacking in character and partly boring. But likable. And the attempt to do something else worthy of respect. And therefore, I forgive but still 3 stars.
