Why a mobile phone with Android operating system?
I searched mainly a smartphone with a contemporary operating system that was fast and technically mature software. My choice fell quickly on a "Google phone" because Android has developed into a very good operating system and the teething troubles have since been resolved. But why no iPhone, which indeed is certainly also a good phone? Well, because I just the "freedoms" prefer the one with the Androidbetriebssystem has. For example, the better customizable main screen with weather application, Calendar overview and setting overview of Bluetooth, WLAN, etc. The big Android market is also far better filled than the Nokia OVI Store and there are (according to official statistics) in percentage terms much more free applications than in Apple AppStore. About the quality of some apps you may argue certainly and also the sorting options and some other settings of the Android Market could be improved. Google is currently doing to address these weaknesses gradually. Nonetheless help a rating systems and websites as "AppBrain" to make the right choice.
And finally to the actual test of the HTC Desire Z:
I wanted a phone with full keyboard as before the Nokia N97. Unfortunately, such phones with Androidbetriebssystem are sown unfortunately scarce. I chose after a long search and analysis on the HTC Desire Z. I was very satisfied with the cell phone, and even enthusiastic from the start. How So?
Pro:
- The design is elegant and the Desire Z feels high-quality
- The keyboard is excellent
- Also on the Super-LCD screen there is nothing wrong, it's bright, high-contrast, responds immediately to inputs and supports multitouch
- The mobile phone has in my opinion, exactly the right proportions. It remains easy to handle, but still the screen is large enough.
- The operating system responds rapidly to inputs (even though I have already installed a number of additional applications from the Android Market)
- The HTC Sense user interface is very good (beautiful, rich application, stable)
- Very good Internet browser with full Flash support (Adobe Flash 10.1). Better than Safari on the iPhone and worlds better than the browser of Nokia. (Tip: Double click on a text area, the text size and width according legibly adapted without having to scroll horizontally)
- The Desire Z starts rapidly when switching on (approximately 3-5 seconds) and is immediately ready for operation since HTC leaves in RAM when you quit everything. (Similar to the Windows power saving mode only much faster) However, this will cost a little battery power.
Cons:
- The battery can last even longer, but so are fighting nowadays most multimedia smartphones. In 'normal' use, I invite the phone every other day on (about 30% remaining charge). At night I turn the phone off. However, it has many options to the battery life according to the type of use to adapt. (Eg using the "Power Control widget")
- When the camera quality HTC Nokia and Apple is lagging behind, unfortunately, still. Above all, digital noise is noticeable in the photos. Nevertheless, the images remain gebrauchbar.
Neutral:
- The slider mechanism generally works very well, but is perhaps a little too easy. If you hold the Desire Z on the keyboard and turns, the slider jumps to (eg when lying on the back). Me personally does not bother this.
All these statements reflect only my personal opinion and I would like no 'who's better' start war. Each mobile phone operating system and have their own advantages and disadvantages. I've tested several other mobile phones (by family and friends) over a longer period and find just that Android the most appropriate to me that the operating system and the HTC Desire is the exactly matching smartphone. I hope I could give a useful overview of Android and the HTC Desire and help to the right buying decision.
MFG
PS Yes, you can make calls with the Desire Z also, I almost forgot to mention ;-)
