Facing You [Vinyl] (Vinyl)

Customer Review

"Facing You" is the first solo album by Keith Jarrett. It was recorded in 1971 by Jan Erik Kongshaug in Oslo and this in excellent quality.

At that time it appeared in the jazz world as a completely hopeless, to bring a plate with only piano on the market. The German producer Manfred Eicher and ECM through his company heard all the prophecies of doom, and were right. "Facing You" was a great success, in musical and commercial terms. In "Facing You" followed in 1973, "Solo Concerts: Bremen and Lausanne" and 1975 "The Köln Concert", which has been sold at least three and a half million copies.

"Facing You" consists of 8 pieces, all of which are created without major planning. The pianist plays extempore an idea and develops it further improvising.

A highlight is probably the third piece, "Lalene" which oscillates between very charming liquid single-note lines and powerful chords.

Highly recommended, of course, as a CD.
