Klaus Hoffmann's third Brel album

If we only love remains (Hoffmann sings Jacques Brel) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Countless times, the songs of Jacques Brel copies and been repeatedly reinterpreted. Also German versions are not uncommon, but rarely they can keep up with the incredible emotional originals. One of the few artists who actually understand, interpret Brel, Klaus Hoffmann. For years include evenings, which he denies the large chansoniers with the songs to his stage highlights.

"If we only love remains" is the inclusion of a complete live program on a double CD. On this course will also classics like "Amsterdam" or "Madeleine" as on other CDs before, but there are always new variations in interpretations of Hoffmann. As he rightly points, the texts Brel can anyway not easily translated. You can just try to transmit and this is Klaus Hoffmann very well done, because he himself in this transmission brings. He sings what trigger these texts and songs in himself - always with a look at the life of Brel, but never to put it simply enact. He Brel accepted as an inspiration to write it even led special songs of their own, such as "The Impossible Dream", which is represented on the CD.

One of my personal favorites from Hoffmann Brel interpretations has long been "If we can do is love." The fact that the new CD that name, has immediately sparked my interest and I was not disappointed. Not only my favorite song is sung powerfully and with incredible devotion - this applies to the entire concert recording, which is then completed by three Reprise additions.

Small Bitter-taste: Hoffmann has already released two albums with Hoffmann-songs. Why even with this band? In winter 2006/2007 he goes solo with Hawo bleach on tour, why would you not be able to make of it a recording? Would possibly have been even more charming.
