Lace image quality and extensive features!

As my beloved, old compact camera (Olympus μ750) is now getting on in years, it was about time to look for a newer model. After much research on the internet and browse through some photo journals, I have become aware of the new Samsung WB350F. However, since there were virtually no test reports and customer reviews of this camera, I have the Samsung WB350F looked at the photographic trade and compared to several other cameras. I attach particular importance, of course, on the image quality. But other aspects, such as a large optical zoom, a large display and compact design play just as important as the purchase price and the cost of replacement batteries and accessories. Since the Samsung WB350F fulfilled my requirements and me most well-liked outside, I decided not to buy on the spot. The Samsung WB350F I purchased for 259 euros in the El Corte Ingles, in Palma (Spain). The product should, however, be largely identical to the English version. What I particularly liked about the camera, were the following:

The objective:

The focal length of the lens is 4.1 to 86.1 millimeters, which in the good old 35mm format 23mm (wide-angle) - equivalent to 483mm (tele). The light intensity is F 2.8 to 5.9 which is more than neat for such a large zoom lens. While there are certainly more intense cameras, but these are in a different price region.

The image sensor

With the built-image sensor is a 1 / 2.3 "BSI CMOS sensor with 16.7 mega pixels. If I now this camera with my old Olympus μ750 with just 7.1 mega pixel comparisons, so they are worlds apart. With 16.7 mega pixel one still has enough room to enlarge the shot in post, without making the picture appear pixelated. If you compare the photo quality to the highest resolution (16MP), obtained images at a resolution of 4608 X 3456 Pixel! then adjust With a 16GB memory card proud 1700 pictures on it in the highest resolution and no compression.

Focus / Focus operations

The camera has various focusing features. On the one hand a simple auto focus, besides on Subject Tracking, Face Detection and a controllable focus fingertip on the touch display. Since we have currently more than 15 cats, it should be noted that the face detection works well in animals. Autofocus taps 80cm, in macro mode (close-up) from just 10cm.

The display

The screen on the back is an easy to read touch screen. The display size is about 3 inches (7.5 cm) and has a resolution of 460,000 pixels. The brightness of the display is remarkably good. Even outdoors, in direct sunlight the display is very good to read what I've found a lot worse in other models. I especially like the ease of use via the touch screen. It can be controlled via the touch screen display almost all the settings easily.

Video function

It can be set different recording formats video. Ranging from 640x480, to Full HD with 1920 x 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second. Because me not so the video feature at the moment interested, I can not tell much about it right now. In a short test video was shown on television an excellent image. Fit on a 16GB Micro SDHC card about 100 minutes in Full HD quality. If I had previously made no images, then would not have been possible a few more minutes.

Conclusion:

The Samsung camera offers a high-performance lens and a high resolution image sensor features many of which I will most probably never need. Operating the camera is easy and intuitively. The desired picture mode is very fast. Any additional settings, such as manual focus or the flash control are made quickly. I especially like that you the aperture, shutter speed, light sensitivity (ISO) and the focus can also completely manually. Thus, an effect, as it is known by its SLR succeed.
Battery performance is in permanent use with flash amazingly well. In the first long-term test, the battery had to be recharged after two hour. The data transmission in the home network is carried out conveniently via WiFi, or via USB cable to your PC. Unfortunately, the camera does not have Bluetooth. The delivery is next to the camera, a USB cable, power cord, lithium-ion battery with 1030mAH, strap and instructions. The 16GB Micro SDHC memory card was not supplied, this I have received for free as an encore. A battery charger is not included. However, this is not mandatory, because the camera can be downloaded directly through the USB cable to the computer, or with the connected USB plug on the 230 volt outlet.

I bought the camera on 8 February 2014 and worked at the time of the review only one day with. From the technology, quality and all the functions I'm very excited. All processing, appearance and feel valuable aspect and solid. As the camera looks after a few months, remains to be seen. So far, I'm in good spirits! All in all I'm very pleased with the Samsung WB350F smart camera and look forward each time to shoot with her images.

Addendum of 02/14/2014:
The camera I use now for nearly a week and am very satisfied. In the meantime, I've bought a USB adapter for car cigarette lighter. This allows the camera to go charging in the car.
