First Impression
The camera is great. Very large. Rough the Canon DSLR format. So do not compact. With more than 800g and not particularly easy. Could the glass lenses of the objective to be owed. Feel ok. As with the G6. Not particularly wertig but not processed carelessly.
Service
Who knows the m3 / 4 cameras will feel comfortable here immediately. Compared to eg G6 more features have been added (shadows lighten etc.). Everything would take too long to list here.
Stabilizer
Is an important point for me. The Stabilizer in m3 / 4 lenses work, but not great. The Stabilizer here is better only at first glance. Not quite comparable to the camcorder (in 4K mode). In the zoom range it comes to "Wabbeleffekten" through the Stabilizer (probably through rolling shutter). This I already know from m3 / 4 14-140mm lens in conjunction with the GH2 or G6. Unfortunately, I have now for some time say that video films from the hand is limited. The "quiver" bothers very and is starting at 80mm focal length significantly. Of course there may be motives where it does not really stand so.
Focal length
The focal length is specified with 25-400mm. But which is only available in Photo mode. In FHD mode it starts at 31mm. In 4K mode even until 37mm. This can be (at least for 4K) denote little more than a wide angle. That bothers me a little.
Picture Quality in FHD
Surprisingly good. Slightly lower than that of the G6 (yes the GH2 resembles). The picture seem a little fuzzier. The noise reduction intervenes in extreme situations. But which falls on a TV FHD not to negative. The image looks very pleasant. Of course one could say: "What do I need if I can FHD 4K". But 4K is for many software packages still a problem. Who wants to end on a good FHD video addition, should take into 4K and convert the files in the stack in FHD.
Image quality in 4K
Another world. As one would have just put the reading glasses. Whoever receives in 4K and outputs in FHD gets an amazing clarity and detail. Not all editing programs come with the 4K handle MP4 files. Adobe Premiere Elements can not 4K, many others only in the latest version. Cyberlink Power Director crashes immediately if you want to import a 4K file of Pana. Magix Video Deluxe has problems with the 4K Export. And Pinnacle Studio 17 crashes in general. If Sony Movie Studio 13. Since work 4K export only in the setting MainConcept AVC. But still. Thanks Proxy files can be 4K edit quite well.
Zoom
16x is of course an announcement. The zoom is moving motorized either manually or zoom button. Slow tracking shots you can forget however. The zoom does not go all the way at a constant speed and also very fast. In conjunction with the Stabilizer 'handheld' exists in the zoom range (as from about 8 to 10 times) but the same problem as with the system cameras and long lenses. It "wabbelt", which is probably the rolling shutter. The "quiver" can not be removed with a stabilizer in post. I've never seen in camcorders.
Noise
In recording standby mode, the sound of an electric motor is audible. Seems to me to be a fan. Although the noise can be heard in the quiet location, I could not make out on the video. Also, the motor zoom is relatively loud.
Low-light
Here the FZ1000 suggests surprisingly good. Approximately as a m4 / 3 with Aperture 3.5. However, the noise "smooth" looks. Takes at very high ISO values (more than 1600), but sharply. A m3 / 4 with powerful lens but of course still have the advantage.
Nevertheless, FZ1000 is a great overall package. The team will probably replace the TOP-consumer camcorder. For extremely good 4K video mode also joined still a very, very good digital camera. On the photos there is to complain about little. Had to be 5 star. But 2 star deduction for the problems and turned cabinets focal length in Video mode.
