I had previously already another Timex Ironman, one without tap function and with only 50 laps memory. So I see it here. The old clock I leave, so it is not broke. This one has a bigger display is thus better to read, especially under water, and the ads are more meaningful arranged so that I can read the number of laps with a brief look at the turn now - if you focus on. But by the giant display is also quite large arm - for everyday life you have already found great is yes, but also just fashion - well. It bothers under sweaters: Due to the rubber of the bracelet and the thickness of the clock can be then the cuff no longer simply withdraw times, in order for example in cycling a quick trip to the time period to view..
The functions are the same as my old clock, but partly sensible to operate on the whole. Very successful, I find the Recall function as a separate entry in the Mode menu. To be able to access the final laps during training, even if the training is not completed / saved. That was just awkward and even with my other, while a clock is ticking - not when you have stopped time. That may be feasible when running or cycling - swimming that's not easy. That's much better now. The 3 alarms are better sorted and operate.
The interval timer can be controlled much more detailed, up to 16 different periods can be repeated since. So
eg training - break - Training - break - Training - long pause - Training - break - Training - ... etc .. is also quite nice, I use the for interval training and give me example after the 5th round a little more time and from the 10th again.
The lighting I find too weak (sh. UPDATE below), in addition it has the same problem as seemingly all Timex watches with digital display. Timex sells though as very nice feature - INDIGLO - but it is not: Unlike other watches, such as Casio, here the background is not illuminated, but the digits themselves (which are usually black). However, since the background remains relatively bright, the time stands worse until no longer off - you can then read worse than no lighting. In the semidarkness which is particularly bad.
The Tap function, when you have to tap on the lap splits only on display, with me was not a decisive factor for the purchase, but nice to try out. Unfortunately, this does not even useful while swimming. Although you can adjust the pressure that is necessary so that the clock "recognizes" that you type, but either there is too little pressure (LITE) and she says, almost every Armschlag the water was a tip, or at the other extreme (HARD) is brought under water hardly the momentum to clap hard enough on the clock so that it registers what you want. I have now chosen the hard stage and use the START / SPLIT button to split. Nevertheless, it comes down to 2000m (25m-Bahn) to at least two false counters. It can be seen quite well in arrears at the time, why can the get over. There is a stage in between (MED), there are simply mistakes frequently, the detection rate of an intended typing is not good anyway. The pity is that the tapping feature can not be disabled completely - which is why a star deduction.
So if the clock does not buys because of Tapping in, gets a robust device with all kinds of useful features, this is for swimming and tidy watertight.
UPDATE:
The first clock was a warehouse deal where after a short time the battery was empty. Probably that was the reason for the poor lighting. Amazon has it withdrawn without objection, despite attempts on my part, changing the batteries (horrible projects, also for technicians) great praise for this service. And because the clock can not help it that back items sold was too long in stock, I have disregarded in assessing.
BUT:
The clock is great, so I did it again soon, this time again. Today arrived, unpacked a good sign: it runs. Then the litmus test for weak batteries: once the lighting operated => Off! Off completely, immediately, can not be activated again. I'll trade now again, but that's clearly a sign of a higher-level product for that I will pull another star. Two (watches) are still on stock Perhaps this is a case of something fuller battery. For each empty battery there's another star deduction.
2. UPDATE:
The replacement has arrived with the same problem as promised =>, still less a star. Now we are at two. That's sad, actually there can also be the clock not help it except that the battery may have been from the outset not so hot. Although Amazon will replace or withdraw these clock again and would even pay the cost of a shipment to the manufacturer for battery replacement, but the running around you anyway. But if I imagine that someone wants to give this clock Birthday, giver and donee would certainly not delighted when they would have to ensure that this effort to come to a working copy.
