If you like long stories that last a long time and where we travel a lot, I believe that the latter is for you. It is a pad 625 pages. Sit back, we will see to it that in the belly as Charlotte Link :)
When I said that we travel a lot, you have already taken into account it happens in two eras. The first takes place in 1996. This is when we begin the story. The place is great and I love it. Barbara and Ralph took a lease of a house in Yorkshire, England, in the sticks for Christmas. Their torque is not at his best and for that, Barbara, nice as it is, they intended to stand alone in this house. They no longer speak and think only of their trades. This house is rented by two old sisters. But not everything goes as planned since a terrible snow storm hits the region and they are stranded. And not only! These kinds of holidays will become hell! Barbara discovers a hidden manuscript of 400 pages while she rummaged in a drawn out. Since they are cut off from the world and can not even take their car that is under several meters of snow and in any case the road is unusable, they must deal with more current. Especially with her job, she is a lawyer, she loves to know the different stories of people. She will be served with all these pages. This is an autobiography of Frances Gray. This woman lived in this house in the pretty name of "Westhill Farm". But one of the sisters, Laura, who rents his house, was desperate to find these pages. She has given the go without having their hands on it. Why was she so resume ?? I was thinking too much more to that part and when Barbara is the link, I thought "ouiiii but it's true !!".
That's when we jumped in the past and we find ourselves in 1907. We will live in history that Frances was 14, in these chapters, years by years. It will jump between the two periods but that of Frances is clearly the big interest of the book. So much so that history will end with the couple quickly secondary. It's nice to find the time to love time because after having read long chapters after this old story full of twists and turns, we read Barbara's reactions when we return to the present. She is like us. We all read this story. It is life together. As a common reading with a friend, actually. The life of Frances is busy. it will address topics miserable account of women who do not have the honor of talking about policies with men and women's struggle for the right vote. Frances does not know what to do between making a living with the man who asked in marriage, knowledge from very young and being like other women to have children, cooking and cleaning and then have to Other responsibilities by not having any written this life already. We live not many more pleasant moments at all for her as a long stay in prison very difficult (why? Suspense!), Death, betrayal, family problems, surprises, revelations, the inevitable war 14 -18 in France with all its horrors, a great love of youth with the powerful John Leigh but her sister Victoria's around, London ... The more they grow, the harder it is between them and even with all his family various reasons. It happens all full of events, good as bad. There a lot of character but I am attached to everyone and not once I lost myself with the names as the protagonists are successful.
It's a book to read. The narration is good and the history of this great family kept me going until the end. With a very good final. I was thoroughly with Barbara, with her support. I am sorry to say goodbye to some charming and insufferable characters in this charming sisters.
Highlights:
+ Writing. This is the first novel I read Charlotte Link and it was a great discovery, since the time that I saw several of his other novels.
+ The many descriptions of the beautiful scenery. I wanted to dive into the pages to be there.
+ Mixing the two eras. I mostly preferred the 1900s with the time over the following years with the mentality of the people of that time, how it was the life, the debates on women's right to vote and climate on both fronts, and pendants after the wars.
+ The many characters and family we follow with Frances Gray moults family twists. We love some and hate others. Especially the sister Victoria. It makes us see all the colors.
+ The length of history. I think we are all the same on this point almost, when you love a story because it is good and exciting, we want it to last as long as possible. This is one of them. Without having diet declines.
Weaknesses:
-J'en See one and you will surely have a smile but it is only the cover. Yes I know, I quibble :)
Go, a small second anyway. Finally, this is not a fault for me but consider that if you not like too long stories, this is not the case with The house of sisters.
