The Abus Bordo Granit X-Plus is the enhanced version of the previous castle, which was still slightly with a blow to crack keys. This is now the Abus Bordo Granit X-Plus is no longer possible. Whether there are now new lock picking techniques, I can not tell me nothing of the sort is currently known.
Everyday use in everyday life masters the lock so well. Unlocking, folding members fold out full-length as a folding rule to fold a suitable metal tube (bike racks, lamp post, sign pole) and insert the open end of the lock and take out again. The scope of the castle is in spite of the 85cm length (completely out-folded) restricted foldable. By folding structure occur during enclose angles / corners and you have to spend some time so that it properly fits around the metal pole and is to-closable. This is also one of the criticisms of the castle. By slightly longer chain links, the problem could VLT. decrease, but this would mean that the castle would still heavy and takes up more space on the frame. With a U-lock is the connect are often done more comfortable around a mast. If that is too fiddly, should decide the same security level for a adequates Bügelschloss better.
After only 2 months in daily use, also is shown by the little quirks. The catch or pull it out of the body is not as easy as you might expect it. Here tilting it slightly recognizable. In-addition, the hinges are no longer so easily, when you open the chain links. Here you should put a drop of oil to. If still in the context of what I can accept. But now rattling the chain links while driving, I find not great. I can think of nothing spontaneous one, which could remedy this. Seems to be by design.
We come to the real negative point, the key itself.
At first glance, the key looked durable, solid metal. However, he is by now about 10 months simply abruptly canceled in the castle when open! The key had cracks is not noticed. I would rather say it looks look as if the key was turned off and is then broken off. Unfortunately, the remaining part remains in the lock cylinder and can not be removed from me.
Pro:
+ Fairly easy handling (up / folded and unfolded)
+ Silicone coating (largely prevents scratches on the paint)
+ High theft protection, security level 15
+ Various colors selectable (silicone sleeve)
+ Usable metal reinforced frame mounting incl. Velcro (hard plastic / silicone)
+ Small footprint
Contraindications:
- Chain links difficult to handle (not everyone metal mast is available!)
- The key (break off easily and remaining keys can get stuck in the lock!)
- Insufficient long chain links (members would each be at least 5 cm longer to be easily available at each lamppost.!)
- Total heavy weight
Conclusion:
Were it not for the terminating key, one could recommend the product in good conscience continue, despite minor criticisms as the rigid links through which one each lamppost or may not like fully enclose. This leaves a stale aftertaste in terms of key construction. Here should Abus own engineers check again what you can improve, so that the key does not break off, where it breaks! Everything as a whole certainly a good lock, but should the concept at ABUS again revise terms of these criticisms.
If in the second ordered Abus Bordo Granit X-Plus again break the key, I will not buy this product again and pull another star in the rating.
