Looks the part and performs well too!

The packaging of this Cateck USB 3.0 Premium 4 Port Aluminum USB Hub belies the content - mine came in a sealed and labeled Jiffy bag rather than a box - it's good to see a manufacturer Minimising packaging but investing in the product itself.

The immediate impression of this 4 Port Hub is exactly as described, it looks and feels like a "premium" product. It is immaculately engineered in a brushed aluminum finish with spun roundels at each end, blue USB 3.0 socket cores and white trim. There are non-slip rubber feet and a 2 foot white USB cable Which is Supplied completes the unit. No external power supply is provided as This should not normally be Necessary with USB 3.0 and the unit has anti-surge protection built in.

HOWEVER, this is not a case of form over content - the performance of this USB 3.0 hub bears out it's quality feel and construction. This unit installed on my Windows 8.1 computer without any additional software or driver disc and I got transfer speeds of around 3.2 GBPS Although I know this is not the highest attainable speed USB 3.0 I suspect my PC may havebeen the limiting factor. I tried the Hub with Memory Sticks, a USB 3.0 Pocket HDD (Although Cateck recommend a power supply is used for the HDD) and a number of other devices and all worked well.

Although I am a PC and iPad user When one of my friends who is a dedicated Mac users saw this he wanted it saying it did what such a good match for his MacBook Pro he almost thought it had a Certain fruit on it!

A real quality product. Recommended.
