However, the series has a major flaw: The story. Because this deprives the story writer almost every freedom and they need to access resources such as: illogical actions, side stories that serve neither the plot nor the conversation (at least not at the level to which the aim of which series).
Let me explain why the basic story is not in my view for a series adaptation:
The story is that a prisoner of war for 8 years is freed captive and returns home. Shortly before the information is put a CIA agent, that an American prisoner "shot" was, that is. this is planning an attack in the United States. As far as very good and interesting.
Now there are the following options:
-The Returnees is not "turned" ie. He does not plan attacks. Consequence would be that the series would be taken any livelihood and would only act of psychological damage captivity etc.
-The Returnees was "turned" and is a potential hazard. Here are some alternatives: He's as quick as possible because anything to blow -> Ie. the series would end quickly to GNP. Also because he'd fly up already in the initial phase by its relatively strict surveillance. Second option is that he behaves quietly and wait until the dust has settled. Makes Sense. But what shows you the viewer as long until the time has come ???
This is precisely the problem of the series! There is nothing to show, because then the story would end. Unimportant side stories, little love romances and sexual scenes (which are added good =).
Therefore, the story is artificially rotated and sometimes pushed a bit like a TELENOVELLA when it comes to love relationships.
An example: Carie and Saul my that "Twisted" would appeal to the public, but Brody stays away from the press. But from above comes the desire that Brody should bitteschön show in public. As a patriot and as an identification figure of the fighting forces. As Brody gives this pressure, from the other side (Saul and Carie) is considered as a safe indication then that he was probably shot, although he actually did not go out of conviction to the press. WTF ??? Unfortunately, such errors are (times larger as well as smaller time here) often present in order for the audience to present what and faith awake holds that Brody was shot.
The series is also often patriotic and drawn / übermotiviert as if there were the security of the whole country in the hands of a mild mentally ill Carie (whose hysteria sometimes annoying), whose testimony (which is always shown in the intro) that they screwed up once before has and it does not want to leave again. This refers to the September 11 attacks.
That the security organs monitor us as shown in the film is no longer before us so far removed from reality. But the bungling monitoring is bit ridiculous. One sits on the couch, waiting for what will happen. Carrie is indeed replaced from time to time. But hey? What about their "right" work? If the on anyone. These are rather small things that also occur in series I've rated 5 stars sometimes, for example. "The Americans" in a similar scenario played only in the 80s and by reference to the Cold War.
In addition, the series often suggestive (Brody has become Muslim, deleted scenes with pop sounds which in the end nothing happens). The one already knows from everywhere, but a 5 star series would not need such cheap tricks.
I found the basic idea and the series well. But does not deserve 5 stars and I stopped in the middle of season 1 because they went nowhere in my opinion. I could at this point again recommend "The Americans".
