Tao Te Ching - An illustrated travel (Hardcover)

Customer Review

A beautiful edition and translation of the Tao te king of Lao Tzu, Stephen Mitchell apparently spent many years before giving us his translation of this famous book. Adapted from Zen and Taoism, he admits he sometimes sliced, see adapted some texts, yes, but to make them more understandable to us Westerners, not followers of the imagery of the Chinese language.

So everything seems clearer. Although this text remains one of the most beautiful but enigmatic spiritual text, because as it is written, from the moment one puts words to describe the Tao, we move away from its true meaning.

However it really comes enriched with this version. Because after all alone Lao Tzu himself could make a correct translation of his book. Any translation being only personal choices in many possible variations.

The illustrated tables that accompany each text are equally superb, and plunge the reader into deep meditation.
