The 1986 album Lousy times is frequently referred to alongside his predecessors The sun as red as Westernhagen's worst album. The reason for its typical sterile and artificial production is led from the middle 80s mostly. Both albums flopped tremendously. This then made me as not just Western Hagens biggest fan but admirers of the 80 curious. At the time, the album as pretty much everything he has gone from the 80 past me. The production sounds really completely after its creation time, somewhere between Spliff, Falco 3 and RIO 1. But you can not be blamed for the album. Grönemeyer Bochum, Mixed feelings or sound just jumps to the middle 80s. Sometimes these sounds are frumpy and later currently playing. That's just cyclical. Westlife could not ever sound like a Stones-copy on peppermint, or Stinker SektoderSelters. This was in the mid 80's also nothing to gain, not even for the Stones (album Dirty Work) itself. Not everything can be heard here. Sonntagskind, the title song and cry are musically quite monotonous and of the composition hardly bearable. With We are all in the same boat, it hurts me, Berlin, dance with me and no feeling there but a couple of catchy songs that would have hit potential differently arranged and orchestrated perhaps. My favorite song is I'm hot, which would also fit well on Spliffs 85555.
Conclusion: Although the album is not a climax in Western Hagens catalog, at least it has decent half songs. The production is quite naturally a matter of taste. Knappe 3 stars in the rating there. On his next self-titled album Westlife was musically taste safer and the success came back.
