Since Firmware Update 1.1 the thing flashed really very reliable and can all functions offers also the original Sony product. More firmware updates can be easily obtained from the website of the manufacturer and even via a USB cable (which is not included) to import.
At full power, the charging process takes about 4-5 seconds (I use rechargeable batteries which is somewhat slower). In continuous shooting mode the camera Lo at 1/8 strength (manual flash mode) can trigger 5 times before the flash must recharge. At default settings in TTL mode and Continuous Shooting can usually shoot even endlessly (depending on the brightness and distance), as the camera takes longer to trigger and the flash thus has time to recharge.
Here are some advantages:
+ Camera and flashgun communicate properly all values (focal length, aperture value, flash intensity, flash mode)
+ TTL Auto mode works flawlessly even in wireless mode. EV Corrections from -3 to +3 in 1/3 increments.
+ Wireless Master (Controller) Slave (Remote) and servo function perfectly
+ In Servo mode, the flash can also learn the camera's flash so it can be easily used in conjunction with compact cameras.
+ The high-speed synchronization (HSS) works both infected and in WL mode.
+ Using the touch screen which can rotate by 90 ° the operation is quite simple.
+ In contrast to the original flash devices from Sony (HVL-F60M and HVL-F43M) you need an adapter for Alpha 65, 77 and 99. Metz still has the "old" iISO Hot Shoe of Minolta / Sony on, Sony itself has been using 2012 only on the standardized multi Interface Shoe and although the Alphas are sold with iISO there is no original Blitzgeärte more with this connection.
Small drawbacks:
~ The flash unit wobbles minimal when it is in the hot shoe. However, one would have for the original device an adapter which use even more room for wobbling arises.
~ Spoiled by the modern smartphone, the touchscreen seems a bit sluggish.
Otherwise, I have not had any problems with the device, no overheating (even in continuous operation) or otherwise.
Cheers!
