Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000

In May last year I bought the C510 by Logitech. Also a 720p webcam with integrated microphone (indeed must) and autofocus. Yes, the autofocus. Constantly asked me friends, why I do can not even sit still. And I then: This is my webcam that constantly focused new. Well, probably you could stop that, and I just did not checked the settings. No matter.

In October this year I switched to Windows 8 and thought to myself: Wow, Logitech does not provide Windows 8 drivers available (ie on the date of installation). Luckily, the US side had the driver for weeks. Downloaded, installed, (German language pack is in English driver available) and found: There are features missing. I often work with presentations and put a Wait Shield by software before the camera. ManyCam not running somehow and before I was not wasting more time, I simply bought the HD-3000. A very good buy.

The driver can be downloaded from the Microsoft Web site and install previously. Then connect the camera to the next available USB port and you're done. In the box found next to the camera only a short manual, the warranty information and a map to the states that you should download the drivers themselves. Can you chalk up as a bad service, good now. But does not have one. Because even if you connect the webcam without installation of the driver, this is done automatically through the Windows Update feature. Therefore there is no need to complain about here.

The webcam is instantly recognized and working properly. The true color function displays the colors more naturally to, as my old Logitech C510. As the colors radiated literally. The focus is working as it is supposed to. Normal and not exaggerated, yet the image is sharp. Also the microphone detects the language well and clearly. An override is not noticed. The software looks pretty spartan. For the integration in Windows 8 and Modern UI is well done as LiveTile. There are also various effects with stupid hats and wigs inclined. Where to modify / delete this / replace, I find out more and sign up to like again (also because of a wait-shield).

My Conclusion:
Very good webcam from Microsoft, for Windows 8. The driver support right here. Picture and sound are great, priced there really is nothing to complain about. For those who want to upgrade Windows 8 and / or need a new webcam, the LifeCam HD-3000 is a real best buy.
