For me, the shift knob comes in a MX-5 NA used. The shift knob is made from billet aluminum and has no burrs or other imperfections on. Only the "S" on the top, unfortunately, seems to be glued / PHONY plastic and feels accordingly (creaky and cheap) to. Nevertheless, the knob is very comfortable to hold and has a tacky feel. The unique weakness of the knob is the attachment. Instead of using similar-quality metal parts, three plastic tubes are supplied which must be selected depending on the diameter of the shift linkage. However, in my case with duct tape had to be filled in the remaining despite tube selection space. (This recommendation is also in the installation instructions.) Then, the knob is fixed with three small screws on the tube. While it holds everything now, but built to last, the construction is not. I'll look around for metal parts and replace the tube by a metal tube with internal thread plus indentations which receive the three screws and then fix everything safely and permanently.
