LG G2 Smartphone (13.2 cm (5.2 inch) touchscreen, quad-core, 13-megapixel camera, 16GB memory, Android 4.2) Black (Wireless Phone)

Customer Review

My previous smartphone experiences have rather limited to the iPhone, is reason enough again to judge the see the bigger picture. In Apple's Königsdiziplinen (haptics, usability u. Speed) Android devices have now but heavily made up.

For LG G2 I am with a brief "live" come test some equipment, I lose to in the end a few words.

+ Technology
++++++++++

For this one must not say much, the G2 plays to date (March 2014) in the smartphone league and needs thanks Snapdragon 800 CPU (4 x 2.3 GHz), Adreno 330 graphics chip, and 5.2 "IPS Full HD screen, 3000mAh battery and 13MP Camera with Optical Image Stabilizer is not to hide.

Even complex Games close PS3 level run as smooth as silk and with no jerkiness.

With this information you should definitely keep the price in mind, the LG G2 currently costs about half of the currently announced Android flagships (eg Experia Z2). Hats off!

+ Telephony
++++++++++++

Of course you can make calls with such a technique Boliden also, where there are no complaints. Calls on both sides well understood, although the speaker sounds tinny when G2 slightly.

The (handsfree) speaker G2 sounds quite reasonable and is neat loud - wonders he is not spending, however.

The G2 can HD Voice when the other side also supported and you, is E-Plus or T-Mobile in the 3G network of Vodafone.

Network coverage is consistently very good, in areas with poor network coverage it fluctuates strangely enough, sometimes even to 2-3 bar.

Unlike Samsung LTE can also be activated with Android 4.2.2 at G2 in E-Plus network via a supplied by LG "LTE Update".

+ Haptic
+++++++++

The G2 nestles thanks to rounded edges and super flat design perfectly in the hand. Somewhat unusually, the buttons (volume up / down, standby) are at the back but you get used to it.

Pleasant also the weight, with good 140g it feels extremely light on - despite the massive batteries!

Not so well: the smooth back, keeping the G2 longer in hand it will be easy "greasy". On the other hand, in such a piece of jewelry a protective cover, but at least one silicone Case anyway compulsory. These should be selected slightly grippy.

Creaking or other noises I could not watch with my (black) G2, the white version seems to be more vulnerable here according to forum reports.

+ Display
++++++++++

Vibrant colors, excellent black level, legible even under sunlight and an edge of the display (right / left, the way for no apparent transition to the screen itself) may be referred to as a quasi non-existent. The G2 is quasi only display, making it a real gem. Smartphones with comparable external dimensions come here to a maximum of 4.7 to 5 inch screens. These Full HD resolution with 424 PPI which any iPhone 5S (326 PPI) blush drives face.

In short, here is the G2 won the most "wow's" and has at least saved me from the first second off a lengthy purchase decision :-)

+ Battery
+++++++

The LG G2 is the first smartphone its 3000mAh battery even under heavy load (several hours Internet, messages, phone calls) takes me through the day reliable. Often even two days in disbelief, one wonders why such a battery can not be much longer or built by other manufacturers.

Negative, the battery can not be changed even.

+ Android / LG Launcher
++++++++++++++++++++++++

Comes the G2 with Android Jelly Bean (4.2.2), an update to Kitkat (4.4.2) has been available since recently. Like all other manufacturers modified the LG Android version with its own launcher (surface) and additional features.

Minus the operating system to stay on the 16GB 10GB well, at the 32 GB variant about 25 GB for your own data. Unfortunately, this memory can not be expanded with an SD card, but probably via USB storage on mini USB port or cloud services.

The surface is in my opinion succeeded:
- Buttery smooth operation
- Elegant look
- Individual Quick Launch toolbar
- Removable (and downloadable in LG) Themes
- Numerous customization options (even the icons of the applications on the home screen can be freely selected)

At LG own features are only mentioned a few:
- Guest Mode (homescreen are deposited on the only approved apps, so you can sometimes smartphone out of your hands give)
- LG Share (pressing a button will set up a Windows Freiabe on the phone and put in its own network available)
- Remote (makes the G2 a remote for your TV, Blu Ray, etc.)
- QSlide (up to three applications can be frozen and retrieve unchanged.)
- "Kock On" (smartphone can be a "double-tap" to the standby send u again wake So simple and ingenious that you unconsciously other devices trying to awaken in this way -.. Of course, in vain :-))
- "Eye Tracking" (. The smartphone detects whether you're watching on the screen or not u pauses for example according to a video)
- LG Smartphone Backup (Smartphone assurance)

+ Camera
+++++++++

The 13 megapixel and the optical image stabilizer do their job very well, with a little practice to succeed Photos on "Small Camera" level. In low light conditions the quality will indeed noticeably, however, keeps the noise, at least compared to other smartphone cameras, within limits. It also succeed so usable photos. Nice feature, you can control the shutter using voice commands.

Movies takes the G2 course and although up to 60 frames per second in full HD.

The only drawback: the autofocus could work a little faster now and then you miss a snapshot. However, should Android Kitkat (4.4.2) bring improvement via software update, I will supply later a commentary on it.

On the web can find various sample images, in some you would not believe that they were created with a smartphone camera.

+ Conclusion
++++++++

The G2 has my iPhone 4S replaced virtually overnight and made a really planned transition period with both devices unnecessary. Placed next to each other, I wonder how far I could cope with such a small screen and limited multitasking.

I can assure all (Apple) enthusiasts therefore good conscience recommend the G2 even closer look.

Nevertheless, I remain of course on autumn 2014 excited if Apple will introduce the iPhone 6 (with a larger display). Perhaps it is then time for another look outside the box and a new review :-)

+ Comparison
++++++++++++

Before buying, I naturally take a look at other smartphones thrown, below a brief comparison to the LG G2.

iPhone 4S
++++++++++
My previous faithful companion. Compared to G2 haptics falls in favor of the iPhone, glass and aluminum act simultaneously robust and classy. When display it loses then but, despite "Retina" the G2 is in a whole different league. Likewise, camera, battery and performance, these points will go to the G2.

Nexus 5
++++++++

In direct comparison, the Nexus summarizes the rubberized back although better, but are display, camera and battery on the LG G2 at a higher level. In the software it depends on one's own Gusto, LG offers more features which are also packed chic. At Nexus, however, it is a little spartan but you can certainly get to be supplied by the manufacturer even the next version of Android (Lolipop ?!).

Sony Experia Z1
++++++++++++++++

When Experia Z1 Sony's Android customizations me have even a tad better liked than the G2. In return, the Z1 was (above and thicker edges. Below) with respect to the size of the display very clunky and although front and back are made of glass still missing something to the feel of an iPhone. However, I am excited about the Z2, here is mainly the display to be significantly better.

Samsung Galaxy S4
++++++++++++++++++

I for one think it's AMOLED display something colorful. Otherwise, a tough competitor to the LG G2. However, Absolute NoGos are in my eyes the display problems (tearing partly without external influence) which Samsung does not recognize and a tight rein on customers by region Locks and eFUSE chip (so far only in Note 3). The Samsung also wanted to Android KitKat benchmark results manipulated (by clock increase) is not the fine art.

So far the best game ... Rank: 5/5
