Martin's desire Laber has apparently reached a whole new level. Where a lot of time was spent on enumerating of unnecessary information previously, this has doubled here again at least. I have the book not even all the way through, but I'm shocked it actually happened like little here. It is eaten, traveled, planned, starved and suffered, but done very little Relevant. Of course, again all meals are described in at least five sets, although it anyway always the same are (in Dorne's all sharp, in Westeros's moose and vegetables, and in Mereen disgusting / unusual things). Moreover Martin apparently has some new favorite phrases, which he at times also repeated five times in one chapter. If I have to, for example, read again that Tyrion's legs hurt, I have probably put the book down. Tyrion is anyway become of one of the most interesting characters to a bitter Emo, who must ponder every five minutes again over his evil father and about his bad luck with women (he himself a raped them and killed, apparently for him not so important). After all, he gets asked by Penny a good new character on the page.
Meanwhile, the depictions of violence across the boundary to ridicule. It is skinned, amputated and raped until you are no longer shocked, but only annoyed. And here is my opinion a big problem: the world of Game of Thrones just makes me no fun anymore. It is described throughout as cruel and terrible. When you live in this world, you can expect to die cruelly before his thirtieth birthday. Until then, was tortured at least 5 times, forced into marriage, the whole family was wiped out, and as a woman you were also raped 500 times and then eaten by dogs or something. For me, there is so far in the books nothing for which it would be worthwhile to really live, is true of most characters just about power and property claims or decreasing the own torments, which are not exactly the most fascinating destinations. And from a so quite repulsive world, I also do not like to read. Sure, an intact floret world would be boring, but as the protagonist of the series, I'd seriously consider simply preventively to commit suicide before I find anyway an agonizing death.
And anyway, what are all the mentions of torture and rape? Okay, clearly something must happen again, but I'm starting to wonder if it is really shocking or if not the author lives out his somewhat questionable fantasies. Of course back at least a very tasteless sex or rape scene with a minor, which indeed it is a recurring theme.
Then there is again a few short chapters with uninteresting characters that were introduced in the last part, and even more new characters that Martin has once just devised. Someone he should even say that quality still over quantity and it is not a sign of good stories to create 1000+ characters when they are subsequently todlangweilig.
Despite everything, I will buy my next part. Alone, to see if Martin is yet still manage somehow, the act together useful again and contrary to lead an end. But slowly I see black. While still partially events came in the first three parts, rather everything ripples here soporific to himself. Towards the end is indeed repeatedly tried to install a couple of shocking twists, but were warmly matter to me. Too bad.
