As a dedicated amateur photographer, it gives me a lot of fun to try out a new camera and to see what brings the development over time with them. The Nikon Coolpix L340 surprise here, especially with their optical 28-times zoom, its effect is only really recognized when one has ever seen a before / after image. (In the comment I left a link to test photos)
Externally similar to the bridge camera its big sisters, just stop in a smaller format. She has a strong grip, the one with a man's hand - can grip well and reaches the trigger without contortions - or three fingers. The rough, rubberized coating ensures a secure grip. As you can well imagine in the zoom data, the lens is also as a real small piece of pipe, not a thimble big Something that can disappear without a trace, about sitting a fold-lightning. The display is almost as large as in the "right", but only 460,000 pixels resolution with 7.6 cm diagonal. Overall, the workmanship is very good.
Since everything in life has two sides, one must, in this embodiment, of course, a compromise: The thing fits in no case more in a shirt pocket, and also the jacket should not be successful even buckling. With a small bag and 450g, it puts on the scale, but you can live well (and walking).
When operating Nikon aims obviously depend on the comfortable nest of awareness photographer and offers a fully automatic, which can be influenced in some parts. So although you can specify neither Aperture nor time, but very easy to increase the exposure or reduce. Fortunately, you can also the ISO value for a range 80-1600 firmly pretend. The same applies to the white balance, the automatically calculated in the ground state, but can also be fixed to the usual values. Here one even has the ability to store with a white / gray object (piece of paper) a current color correction value.
And then there are in addition to a fully automatic program mode, which automatically recognizes different scenarios. These can also select targeted directly. Effects such as SW-contrast image, old sepia image, posterization, etc. can be selected via the menu. Electronic helpers promise the perfect portrait by Lächelautomatik, Blinzelvermeidung and skin Blur. After recording, there are also other options for processing, to achieve such a "painting" effect, to blur or cross developmental effects.
Its use is straightforward. Each setting can be achieved quickly and you do not lose yourself in nested menu images. If you want to use the camera's flash, so you have to fold it by pressing a button. If you have forced the flash use via the menu, the camera has of itself suggest that one should open it. She does, incidentally, also if you have not removed the lens cap. This interferes with the apparently "booting" of the camera, which results when switching to abort the process. After pointing you have to turn off the camera first, then remove the lid, then turn it back on. Since I've owned yet no camera that is going on so, I do not at the beginning of the same four consecutive passes, which I found quite annoying.
The resulting photos are very good for this price range. The image stabilization is quite helpful and the colors are reasonable. Since I usually nachbearbeite that saturation was sometimes a bit too much can for my habit, but as an image that you copied from the camera, ready to displays or printen, it is certainly pleasing as it is. The focus is, as far as one can tell with amateur eye, okay. Really impressive is the zoom range of this camera. It has, for example in the wide angle setting 5 Townhouses on the monitor, so the maximum optical zoom can scan the interior of a satellite dish on standing. Even sharp and without wobbles, if the light is sufficient. Also the opposite effect, the macro setting, can be used with this lens to pick up objects in extremely short distances from the lens. An all-rounder, which is with Aperture 3.1-5.9 in a good area but for such focal lengths.
Your power supply pulling the camera off 4 AA batteries that can be replaced by rechargeable batteries. With the accompanying Duracells I after about 180 photos yet a "full" indicator on the display. Who likes to pull the SD card to copy, must fumble something so small rods not fall out, otherwise this current version is not a disadvantage, but rather has the advantage that you can buy more if necessary traveling times current.
But with all the praise I will not deny what I liked not so good also.
The video quality is not really convinced me. Maybe I'm too spoiled by my previous HD movies.
But above all, has irritated me the shutter speed of the camera. If one wishes for a shot quickly repositioning again, so you have to wait 5-6 seconds. That is far too long for such a case. Although there is still a continuous shooting mode. The you have to but separate from the Setup menu, and then you can record approximately 4 images in 1-second intervals, which is not even a record.
So I would give this product 4.5 stars because overall performance for this price range is reasonable.
