That does not have the drives completely silent, is known and acceptable. But the drive of this player is definitely louder than all other devices of my TV set's even louder than my HT-PC - drive.
The drive of the Pioneer BDP-170-K sounds like a CD drive from the 90's. Here, the "read-noise" is not the problem so that you could still be alive. The Permanent beep while playing is simply uncomfortable and a sound killer. My Vorgäner "Samsung BD 5500" directly as a comparison is quieter worlds.
Since I bought the Pioneer VSX 924 and thus am satisfied, I wanted to have the right Bluray Player from Pioneer. The Pioneer BDP-170-K is not recommended. I now have the Pioneer BDP-450 ordered me to have the hope in which device a better soundscape.
No I'm not sensitive or otherwise. I operate my TV in 7.2 and at times also a bit noisy. Seat pitch is 4 meters to Bluray Player / plant. My projector is 2 feet above my seat position and you hear the Bluray player over the projector. Since the "beep" is in an unusual heights frequency.
DLNA & Wifi I have not tested. For me, the noise was the KO criterion.
