Customer Review

I come from the Nexus 4 and I switched due to its miserable battery life on the Moto G LTE.
I have the power now since approximately 2 weeks (from UK orders) and have to say that I am absolutely thrilled!
(I will abbreviate my review in the "normal Moto G" as MG and the Moto G LTE as MGLTE.)

* Packaging *
The packaging in which the MGLTE comes is very minimalist. Width and height are selected such that the unit fits in, the depth is about 8 cm. Included is a white USB cable and various instructions - that's it.

* The daily use *
I'm saving me here to go into the setup wizard, as it is identical to the MG. In everyday use the MGLTE really does a great job: Everything is going really smooth, sometimes even more fluid than on my old Nexus 4! The display has a very good resolution, so you can no longer detect pixels. Also to be commended is the very high brightness. Even in direct sunlight I can read the display without any problems.
The back is removable (The rechargeable battery is _not_ replaceable), whereby an SD card can be used. Contrary to Motorola's official statement function 64GB SD card without any problems. You only need to be formatted to FAT32, which makes the phone automatically.
Also worth mentioning is "Motorola Assist", an app which automatically mutes the unit in meetings and at night. You can set exceptions, for example if a marked with an asterisk contact calls, or if a number calls twice.

* The feel *
The device is a real flatterer and I find myself repeatedly in how I play with my index finger on the small hollow on the back of MGLTE. Contrary to other opinions, it is precisely the weight of what I like. One has the feeling of having something valent in hand. The keys have a really pleasant pressure point and click easy when you press it. Unfortunately, they are a bit far out, which sometimes results in that the display is activated in your pocket. But you can tell fairly quickly as you have to do the device in your pocket, to avoid this behavior.

* The battery life *
Caveat: I belong to the faction that automatically recharges your phone every night. I have accustomed myself this automatism, because it had to be made easy for all smartphones that I had previously. The MGLTE is the first phone where it is not absolutely necessary - Hats off, Motorola! Where I had most evenings still 15% battery when Nexus 4, the MGLTE comes without problems on 50%. Especially with mobile data connections like HSPA + or LTE the MGLTE running high power conversion efficiency.
The standby time is fantastic! I've had a trial basis are overnight with HSPA + device and lost only 5% battery. This is a top value MMN - the Nexus 4 has here loosely indulged fourfold.
__UPDATE (20:07:14): I have now enabled LTE trial basis and am amazed that it's apparently more energy efficient than HSPA + or UMTS generally.

* The Camera *
... Usable. For snapshots and individual photos with good exposure it is good; Videos are recorded in both the front as well as from the main camera in 720p. There is even a slow motion mode possible! For me personally it is sufficient. People who have to hold everything and everyone in photos should better look for another smartphone. Are especially at night, the photos usually rushing and very strong reddish. Well, it's just only a cell phone.
_UPDATE 1 (19:07:14): The camera can even burst shots, so do a lot of photos in a short time. This is especially useful for portraits, because you can find the best photo out looking. I photographed my girlfriend and about 25 photos shot within 3 seconds. There were a lot of good here :)

* Telephony *
The telephony is great, mutually hear clearly.

* Gaming *
I zocke hardly on my smartphone, but I installed a trial basis "smash hit". It runs smoothly on medium settings, at ultrahigh have to expect frame drops. In addition, drop some frames if you split on medium settings half the world simultaneously. For casual gamers than adequate.

Conclusion: This smartphone should buy everyone who attaches great importance to a lot of memory and long battery life, and for the combined smartphone everyday a navigation device, music player and a reference book. Hardcore Gamer or Vielfotografierer should buy another device.

Information for specialists:
* Root *
As with all my equipment I have not long endured it, to leave the appliance ungerootet. Unfortunately, it must be unlocked, ie Motorola knows that the device has been modified bootloader Motorola. This warranty of any kind on the part Motorla is void. This process is irreversible - you can bootloader Although again close, but you do not get the guarantee back.
On XDA there are various instructions on how to proceed.

I'll update this post several times in the course of time, if I notice new things.

_UPDATE 1 (19:07:14): I am all day yesterday in a strange city with no Wi-Fi, and had the evening after 14 hours and 3 hours Screen On Time 39% battery. I'm really impressed by the battery life! It has HSPA + used, I'll soon be time enable LTE and play a similar scenario and report here.
__UPDATE 2 (20:07:14): I have had today enabled all day LTE and even more battery than with HSPA + achieved. Apparently LTE is yet more power efficient than HSPA + or UMTS.
__UPDATE 3 (06:09:14): most recently, unfortunately breaks the music playback Fascinating country in song for no apparent reason from. I looked at the unit time more closely and found that the construction of the jack connector is to blame. A contact is wear out fairly quickly, so that the plug then has excessive play and the phone "thinks" that the plug has been removed. At long or short everyone will encounter this problem. A change of the latch by Motorola makes little sense, because these new will wear out again. As a permanent "repair" it is therefore in my opinion essential to fix the worn-out contact with something - I recommend a piece of cardboard. On my blog I've uploaded a tutorial for it: [...]

I prefer due to its so one star off. Nevertheless, the Moto G 4G Top Smartphone remains for me! :-)
