Three years after his last Wild Bunch, Bruce Wayne pretends to be dead in order to plan his attack against. Faced with a corrupt government, promoting and advocating lapathie lobéissance blind Batman brings together the missing members of the Justice League. Together, they lead a vendetta against the leaders of this regime and the regime that protects Superman!
Now, before going any further. First sore subject, drawings. Both the drawings retuns were OK so there it's just awful, ugly, ugly. But why Frank Miller na does not let the drawings to someone else ?? This is a caricature, square, dark, messy, real torture for our eyes. Frankly the gentleman would abstain from. And even more on those big double pages. Besides being ugly, this is empty! In short a big, big disappointment.
Well, and the story in that? And if history is starting a good idea. A vengeful Batman decides to provoke a kind of urban revolution against its adverse leaders. Super Heroes that have been removed from their pedestals. New characters. In short it all seemed good. But again a huge disappointment. Frank Miller, here, especially destroys the image of our heroes. If his Batman ultra violent, on the edge of the yellow line, going still. What about his Superman neutered, weak, coward and without charisma. What about his Wonder Woman is distressing dune silliness, just happy to breed with Superman. You can see there misogyny boundless and strong we can see that the place women should occupy in our society by Frank Miller. Add to this a completely barred Plastic Man, a Green Arrow even more conservative than the worst preservative, Green Lantern became something dinexplicable, Bloodhound Martian dune unrecognizable and pitiful, a Flash with a suit having shrunk in the wash, then why a Question does not know, a Shazam without Billy and Dick Grayson that No, there, what it happened to Dick Grayson pleases me, so I hate that character ^^
Suffice to say this quavec hard pill to digest it is very difficult to follow, to appreciate this story. Especially as it goes in all directions, this is full of clichés facilities. There are so many characters, so many topics that lon spent some time wondering how what we read is a Batman story. Seems more a saga of JLA. And what of all these interventions civilians, journalists, dhommes policy. They napportent anything, it napporte anything except more nest daffreux faces drawn by Miller.
But it is just as bad in this Batman The Dark Knight Strikes Again? No. Finally, I think not. The basic idea, I still, I liked enormously. The idea of seeing Batman door banner of freedom sopposant tyranny was enticing. And it is perhaps this background that seems to be the only thing that mait rained. Too bad. Here Batman is and we do not understand much. What it is going to Metropolis nest hardly explained. Frank Miller cycles through the characters and tapped.
As lexplique himself intro, his story was written during the appalling attacks of 11 September 2001. And this eagerness on our heroes, gives the impression that Frank Miller makes them pay, indirectly, their powerlessness in the face of the horrors of real life . The artist really seems to have very badly these dark events, as everyone dailleurs.
In short I have not loved at all. Worst I have been frankly disappointed. Frank Miller naurait not do this suite and stay on his good The Dark Knight Returns. Too confusing, too freewheeling, too ugly, too disappointing. But quest happened to Frank Miller?
