It has the merit of being the first, but not that. Whoever starts with Zamyatin will be disappointed by Orwell's 1984 and Huxley best of worlds. Although it is shorter + deep into the psychology of the characters, dehumanization, love and above all bursting into consciousness of a restrained personality. It is very well written, and although the player may be a little lost in this mathematical world so cold that people are numbers for us to do this tiny little personification of effort, Zamyatin takes you into a future as plausible as terrifying, and leads you to yourself, pushing you to ask THE question of the meaning of life. Read on, give him a book that is shared;)
