Sure, it's not Jerry Goldsmith's best score, but one that perfectly fits again to the film. It was one of the last 3 soundtracks from old master, before he unfortunately died of cancer in 2003 (2012 unfortunately died way also Jerry Goldsmith's son Joel Goldsmith to cancer. Joel Goldsmith was known among other things for his music for the Stargate series.) The music offers only 2 new themes: a theme for Picard's opponent and a theme for the action with Picard and clone and Data and B4. Otherwise elements are used next to the beautiful enterprise theme from 1979 still reminiscent of some quiet moments by the score to First Contact (1996). The second-mentioned subject (for action Data and Picard and their encounter with her alter ego) is the focal point of the scores. Goldsmith varies greatly in this topic orchestration and thus also in expression. If it is played quietly, it is applied very melancholy, which fits very well. The action scenes, it is submitted that it acts and rousing pachend. That the score to Nemesis often undervalued, is due to the numerous gloomy spacers, aptly act but cold phases also boring to the listener. But worth hearing are the one who restrained, quiet and emotional moments of the score ("My Right Arm", parts of the track "Repairs", "ideal" and "A New Friend" and most of the all-round successful Action Tracks (the second half " Odds and Ends, "the second half of" The Mirror "," The Scorpion "and in particular" Final Flight "). In the Action Tracks it comes, as in Goldsmith usual, very rhythmically. Amazing is the force with which Goldsmith here . the action dubbed The second half of "The Mirror" includes not only the good track "Final Flight" to the Action Highlights: The Music Action begins with an aggressive orchestral rhythm, which also from a regular recurring bass double whammy (- boom boom -) is accompanied. The orchestra will be expanded gradually-increasing after a few bars. The moment at which data in the movie tries a door code to crack, musically playful is this successfully integrated into the action music. As Picard and Data finally come on, lets Goldsmith the track bomb table and slightly heroic end. Thereafter, one can only say "Wow!". Goldsmith was a master in the structured and enhancing development of action music. In this co slope I would like to point out Goldsmith last major action highlight "The Final Battle" from the score to "Timeline" not used, in which he skillfully about 10 minutes, the tension and intensity increased (film of 2003 - appeared CD this by Goldsmiths death in Varese Sarabande). In "Odds and Ends" are short memories of Goldsmiths Action music to "The 13th Warrior" (1999) growing in the second half. Unfortunately, the CD does not contain all the good pieces of the score. The following moments, alas if they are sometimes short would have upgraded the CD: - 26 seconds, the inferior the flyby of Enterprise - The great painted under Start ferry (ARGO) from the spacecraft (about 1 minute - the beginning is reminiscent of a track in the 1st and 5th film) - The sensible low strings music with oboe for first scene between the fresh composite B4 and Data - The Enterprise is on course! (Short musical sequence is reminiscent of the first film) - The harsh electronic music to the scene, in which the elevator Troi mentally raped - Switches off the music for the scene in which Data B4 before the final battle - The truly great score moment, which set to music, as the Enterprise is preparing to fight (a highlight of this score!) - One of the most successful purely orchestral passages in the first part of the battle space (about 2 minutes) - The music to the last moment with Data and Picard (could well still be the "Final Flight" added) - The music between "A New Friend" and "A New Ending": Enterprise in the Dock, salute with Gäsern, "Honor" In summary, one can say that one should finally present also NEMESIS complete on CD! There or was there a full official CD presentation (GNP to 7 and 8, Varese limited to 11, rest at INTRADA and LaLaLand) Among the films 1 to 6, 7, 8, and even once to 11. "Insurrection" and "Nemesis" have not yet been extended, although both scores would just like to win already in full form Goldsmiths scores of 1, 5 and 8! For the current CD version I can only give 3 stars. The score I give full 4 stars but because of numerous sound as convincing highlights.
