Obviously, there is a brand new revision of the K400, which I could discover so the Internet yet nowhere (neither Amazon nor Google or Logitech) and therefore here would like to describe briefly what is new.
First of all, it is striking that on the packaging the words "Logitech K400" emblazoned on the back of the keyboard and in the guidance against "K400r" (FCC ID: JNZYR0019, IC: 4418A-YR0019). So could be the new model name. The manual states that there is driver on the Logitech web site (stating the exact URL). However, there then comes only the message that the page was not found ... is probably still too new. Unfortunately, I can install so no drivers and do not test the corresponding functions. Now the important point: The keyboard layout was obviously changed completely! Apparently you have here deliberately set on Windows 8 support. Even the Windows logo on the keys has been adapted to the new Windows 8.
- The F-keys are now all occupied twice with media functions. The media functions represent the default function of each button, the F_ functions are accessible only through combination with the FN key. Whether this is an advantage or a disadvantage, everyone must decide for themselves depending on the application. Here, the layout:
F1: Show desktop / Show Desktop
F2: Switch applications / Application Switcher (*)
F3: Search / Search
F4: Share / Share (*)
F5: Devices / appliances (*)
F6: Settings / Settings (*)
F7: Previous Track / Previous track
F8: Play / Pause / Play / Pause
F9: Next Track / Next Track
F10: Mute / Mute
F11: Volume down / Down
F12: Volume up / Lauter
The functions marked with (*) are described by Logitech as follows: "A Windows 8 function Use to assign Logitech Setpoint these buttons other's features with.".
- The four media keys (Indian guide "Hot Keys" named) are also reassigned:
1: Left click / left click
2: Music Player / Music Player
3: Home page / Home
Lock Lock Computer / Computer: 4
5: Sleep / Sleep Mode
And then the touchpad gestures also have changed: There are now "Edge gestures" (Windows 8)
- Wipe from left: Previous application
Show Charms bar: wipe from right -
Show Application Bar: Wipe from the top -
Furthermore, the gestures (unknown to me whether new, since I do not have the previous model):
- Tap: Left click
- Tap with two fingers: Right-click
- Pinch to Zoom
- Two finger scrolling
- Disable FN plus left click = Tap to Click
- Disable FN plus right click = Edge Gestures
A picture of the new keyboard I uploaded at Amazon, it should soon appear at the top at the customer images.
