Most of it is already on this netbook was said. Very positive I found the design and light weight. Even with the keyboard I had no problems - you have to eventually get used to any new keyboard and this is definitely not bad.
For me negative following aspects:
- The X101 is at the bottom (in the middle) surprisingly warm (estimated 45 ° C), which, for example on their feet quickly feels uncomfortable at load.
- The display is indeed bright and also very widely adjustable back, the viewing angles (especially vertical!) But are absolutely * grottenschlecht *. You have to readjust the display angle definitely at every position change.
- The performance of the CPU is * very * small.
I do not have long stopped me with MeeGo and equal Ubuntu 11.04 Ubuntu 11.04 with XFCE desktop, Xubuntu 11:04 and 11:10 alpha 2 and Linux Mint 11 LXDE tested. Only under Ubuntu was really detected all "perfect" and all function keys worked. Among all other distributions I tested there were several problems with the touchpad (2-finger scrolling * and * on the right edge active forgotten TouchPad settings after reboot, etc.). Certainly for a Linux expert to solve quickly, but I'm not one. ;-)
For Ubuntu I have to say clearly that it does not run on the X101 fast enough, neither with nor with Unity Gnome 3. It runs and you can work with it, but "snappy performance" is something else. Under XFCE / LXDE the performance is much better.
Who does not disturb these limitations, for which the X101 is certainly an interesting netbook - the "fun factor" but is low due to the very low efficiency of CPU and graphics unit. It is a chic, very lightweight device, suitable for surfing and for mail and light office work, but not (much) more.
