I bought the Nikon 1 J3 as a second camera to my D300S, have looked at the reviews on its predecessors, knew what to expect with regard to image quality and operation. The result in brief: The operation is, after a short reading just easy. The image quality is not brilliant (very good !!!), but much better than in my previous P7100. The flash unit is working according to its guide number. That's what I expected and am satisfied. The camera is light, compact and visually appealing. The menu navigation is logically explanatory for an experienced SLR owners, only for the ISO setting I used the instructions. My conclusion: I'm very satisfied with the camera. I now allowed myself plus the fixed focal length 18.5 with the luminous intensity 1.8. With this lens, the camera takes really great pictures. Hopefully Nikon extends the fixed focal length offer even at the telephoto end.
