So I was now skeptical when Melaflon, after all, also because essential oils are included.
That means just smells very slightly after essential oils, the odor itself is tolerable even for sensitive dogs noses.
However, it should be noted when applying some: so that means against fleas and ticks acts, it has to be massaged into the skin where the critters durchkrabeln. Chemical spot-ons, such as Frontline are insecticides, which are distributed in the dog's skin and act on the entire dog, but only if ticks and fleas suck blood. The dog can carry pests home still.
When Melaflon it is probably so that if ticks and fleas hindurchkrabeln through the treated area, die pretty quickly. The fat ingredients / the isopropyl alcohol contained act strongly dehydrate the chitin armor (the outer shell of ticks and fleas). That means you should therefore also distribute in the dense coat, there on the hair, it sticks to the longest.
Because of possible allergic reactions, I would try the remedy only in a small amount, wait two days and if no reactions have occurred, treat the places described in the neck and base of the tail. Even an accidental larger amount does not matter, the main thing, the dog and cat can not lick at these places, if necessary to wash it off again. The product is non-toxic by the way, but no longer works when it is licked. Our bitch I massaged along the spine with a maximum of 3-5 small drop, from neck to tail. And after a great round'm gone walkies.
There are no allergic reactions occurred, but it has nevertheless first trying to rub the Melaflon on carpet. My husband and I have subsequently tried on ourselves if there is a fire and possibly actually can feel the stuff the first minute on the skin (is probably the contained isopropyl alcohol). But then you can feel nothing, and we had no reactions in the form of allergy or intolerance.
The coat was the first two days greasy treated at the points, but I did not care, as long finally stay away fleas and indeed the bastards are gone after treatment.
Since we already had with flea nests found in the house sites, sleeping places / Sofas / Carpets with Canina Petvital Bio-Insect-shock and all baseboards with diatomaceous earth / diatomaceous earth treated.
Spent two weeks no more fleas have surfaced, the dog is free of fleas and had as I said no allergic reaction.
Conclusion: I would recommend this agent. If the dog rubbed every day with coconut oil, this should have a similar effect. That Melaflon smells less, and is actually better tolerated by my dog. Moreover, it is quite economical, and even non-toxic (especially with children in the household, I would such means always first try). It's just more work, and the information about the application / the mode of action could be more accurate.
