However, to me the smart phone through the constantly empty battery and the striking poor radio quality in an emergency is not reliable enough to rely on it. Not with Smartphone for jogging, so it may fall off me and then is broken - I also take a 400.
So I was looking for a device for the second card that:
- Small, light and handy
- Reliable, with long battery life
- That you can take to jog and not equals broken when it falls to the forest floor times.
- Which allows you to work anyway in an emergency, if the fails and Smartie is serving.
- Is not too expensive
I've found the Nokia 301 and ordered it here for less than 90.
My Pro's and Con's:
+ The phone is small, lightweight, solid processes and makes me a strong impression
+ The keys have a good pressure point, the usage may be unfamiliar at first, but if you know where that setting hides it runs very well; with me creaks nothing.
+ The battery holds its 4-5 days, although that is not outstanding, but compared to current smartphones sensational. It "survived" weekend trips, without the need to worry about replacement batteries, or power cord.
+ Really sensational, the dual SIM function. Degrees for a second unit, which I usually in the car is to have a second card in the device (of course for another network), grade in rural areas important. If a card has no power times, it has at least the second, or vice versa
+ One can in an emergency with the device even with UMTS to the Internet, even if it does not exactly joy through the key control and the small screen, but like I said, enough for emergencies.
+ For data exchange is Bluetooth on board
+ Voice and reception quality is acceptable to me, but led only a few conversations with the device.
+ Radio and MP3 player are on board
+ Memory is expandable by SD card
+ Some, though not many apps in the Nokia Store, with which you can upgrade the device according to your wishes with applications and games.
+ For me is very important: The alarm clock works even when the power is off. I do not have smartphone found that could. Although I do not have massive concerns about radiation, but still does not like to sleep with a turned-on cell phone in the same room.
- Of the 3.2 megapixel camera you can not expect miracles, for small snapshots it is probably sufficient, but I photograph really little with the device
- Abandoning a photo light should be mentioned here, because I just use this frequently. When evening herumfriemelt in the dark with a bunch of keys at the lock. But even then supplies the normal "backlighting" of the display a bit of brightness.
- The display does not have the best resolution, but you can not expect more for the price and probably also saves battery power, therefore sufficient. But for entertainment in boring situations a Smartphone is not to replace, but expect for 80 no one.
- No GPS. Precisely because I have the power to jog and used to love have recorded the routes, I realize that. But for the price, a GPS module was probably not in it.
- The supplied headset is crap, but on another the sound of the MP3 player is acceptable.
- Relatively high SAR value. If that is important and really wants a lot of calls to the device, there should take a look.
Since I use the device only as a second unit and thus not constantly, I can to some "features" do not say much. So I find the omission of Wi easy because I do not need it anyway, or the lack of synchronization possibilities with Google, which many complain about here. I typed my most important contacts, including phone number, that's enough. Appointments and notes I will not give here, also typing of SMS would be me now on the multiple use of the keys to long, especially if you worked for many years with touchscreens.
Conclusion:
For me, in the circumstances and for the intended type of use and complement the smartphone a good and reliable device. One does not need to be treated like a raw egg and the low price is "bought" by the waiver of Wi-Fi, GPS, screen resolution and photo light. For the battery lasts as long as 2-3 times in smartphones. Nevertheless, the device is small, handy and can even quickly "disappear" in an emergency in your pocket.
