Externally, the stick has no special features. The housing is made of aluminum, an LED light which indicates missing data access. The stick is open downwards. Down and the middle is a small plastic transom where you could possibly attach a wrist strap or something similar. However, I honestly do not know if that really happened so see. The cap is removable and therefore suitable to lose excellent given :-). Overall, the drive makes a relatively stable impression.
I have to stick that came with the FAT32 format, reformatted to NTFS and with H2testw v1.4 on my Dell XPS 17 notebook; checked (Windows 7 64-bit version).
And I have received the following results:
USB 3.0:
Warning: 60308 60399 MByte tested.
Ready, no error occurred.
Write rate: 17.3 MB / s
Read rate: 27.9 MB / s
H2testw v1.4
USB 2.0:
Warning: 60308 60399 MByte tested.
Ready, no error occurred.
Write rate: 15.8 MB / s
Read rate: 25.3 MB / s
H2testw v1.4
What you can see is that not really stand on the stick full 64GB available. This is also teiweise on the formatting to NTFS. FAT32 format, the available memory is slightly larger.
With regard to the manufacturer's instructions (read: to 35,00MB / s (235x) Write: up 20,00MB / s (134x)) shows that the stick falls short of the maximum values.
Also the difference in transfer speeds between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 is not really big.
What but differ greatly the two USB variants is the temperature development. During the drive to the USB 2.0 port still remains relatively cool it heats up to the USB 3.0 port on very strong. That's what I experienced in this intensity even when no USB Stick. Possibly it is because that the aluminum enclosure, the temperature transfers as well.
If one has form predates the stick on NTFS you should note that the transfer rates the Windows (7) indicates in writing to the stick are not realistic. The storage starts at a tremendous speed, then stops, and near the end you get the impression that it stops completely. For testing purposes, I have to stick therefore again on FAT32 (HP USB Disk Storage Format v2.2.3) with the result that the next transmission rates were again in a realistic framework.
Despite some criticisms, I can say that the purchase of this USB stick has been worthwhile for me. This is especially true because of the low price and the fact that I was not similar to the stick for speed intensive video recordings wants to use but rather only for backing up data. The USB 3.0 support is also (in spite of intense heat) is a good selling point. Would I run the USB stick for a long time on the USB 3.0 connection, I venture to doubt. Since I prefer to stay in the cooler and (in the case of this USB Sticks) almost as fast USB 2.0 variant.
