The accessory shoe is (apart from the insulation and the pressure springs) made entirely of aluminum; the upper guides (at the foot of the flash then rests) are relatively thick. The Canon Speedlite 580 EX 2 has to notice any thumbscrew, but a lever for locking, which snaps into its final position. Since the Hama hot shoe at the described location is too thick, the locking lever of the flash can not be pushed down to its firmly grabbed position; Although the flash keeps on the insert shoe, but not quite as provided by Canon. Since the Canon (with the supplied slip-on for 580 EX2) even better hinkriegt in plastic, I prefer from two stars to Hama hot shoe.
