1. Android
2. Waterproof
3. Unbreakable
4. wrist strap
5. Small
6. 32GB memory
Then I saw the Xperia Active here by chance and was amazed that precisely these requirements would be met with. In short and concise - ordered and now for some time in use.
Scope of supply:
Xperia Active with battery
USB cable 80cm
Power Supply with USB Socket
two back cover (white & black)
Arm pocket for jogging etc.
Voucher for wrist strap
Instructions
What I had noticed particularly positive - out of the box - on the display there are two slides, a protective film that is removed and is placed at the factory and a truly amazing good quality offers. The voucher for the wrist strap includes a phone number and instructions for ordering the strap - the whole thing but you can also do free (without telephone costs) because it worked well with me via email.
Haptics - Function:
The unit is (with and without wrist strap) really safe in their hands, can be fully operated due to the screen size and the touch screen is really exceptionally accurate and very sensitive, which is ideal solutions with a thumb. The three Androidtasten are lit and at the bottom right edge of the display is a bit scattered light to detect - obviously the illumination of the buttons is not optimally shielded to display. This situation has generated a lot of criticism on the device already in other reviews, is completely negligible for me, however. It really bothers not especially in the four corners of the display the firmware own shortcuts can be placed and so the scattered light is no longer visible in my copy.
Since Android 2.3 can be very variable as firmware or operating system so you can not tell much about the individual functions actually that yes you can then choose the Android Market. Who only wants to use wireless that can easily adjust and avoid the Internet and possibly hidden costs - a very useful feature ansich. GPS and other features such as a fairly good camera that's in between more than suitable for the snapshot, complete the package.
Sony Ericsson has installed some sort of unbreakable glass display for the Xperia Active, it is similar to the Gorilla Glass and the manufacturer Asahi and is called Dragon Trail. As a memory card I use a 32GB card in it, it is the music collection that the Android media player including AlbumArt reproduces very well. The sound is excellent with the Sony Ericsson MW600 Bluetooth headset and a Bose IE2 In-Ear Headphones, the voice quality is consistently good, both with headset and device with the ear.
Water resistance and ease of use can also praise, both with wet fingers and wearing gloves is there little difference for conventional operation - which I find exemplary.
Two vulnerabilities, however, has the device, one of which the unit size is due to:
1. The battery is a pretty streaky in use performance of a little more than a day in internet, music and GPS is not just the strongest.
2. The display is quite small - the unit size and the display go here a compromise one.
Android Update:
Sony Ericsson has announced already in 2012 the update to Android 4.0 for the Xperia Active (and other 2011er models) for the first quarter, which is a nice service in my opinion and warrants to the device under certain circumstances a longer future.
Pros and cons:
+ Price performance
+ Robustness
+ Waterproof
+ Service / Update to Android 4
+ Function
+ Compact / small
- Battery power
- Display Size
Conclusion:
The five stars I have given a clear conscience, you get here for relatively little money compared to other smartphones from HTC or Samsung or LG etc. A water-resistant, shatter-proof device with good function, which brings with small display a "still" appropriate battery power , Four stars for the unit and one for the price / performance ratio in the Conclusion.
UPDATE 18/01/2012
It seems Sony Ericsson has now glued no Displayfolie directly and currently supplied wrist strap here or there remain several versions of the content of the packages.
UPDATE 22/06/2012
Sony has resupplied the update to Android 4 and what can I say - it runs smoother than the previous version. Simply update via PC Sofware - and you're done.
