Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 cradle / docking station DK39EU4 / B (with a space-saving and convenient loading of magnetic docking station) black (accessories)

Customer Review

Anyone who knows me, knows me as Grump Kopp.
Is because I am one. : D

But I have to break a lance for the DK39 small that one way, "cradle", should not be called "docking station" here yet. For more than shop can not stop this thing.

It may be that I voted a bit mild, because I have only paid one euro for the DK39 (Combi order with Sony directly). So be it.

Delivery
DK39 (actually!), Adapter, leaflet "Important Information" (totally unimportant Garantiekram) Faltblättchen with pictograms for attaching the adapter and for connecting to USB Chargers - not made particularly evident.
There is no power supply included (what a pretty insolence is the regular price). But can grab outrageously out all the stops at the price Sony lately unfortunately damn good ...

Physical design
Black plastic, nothing special, a little bit too easily.

Handling
Attach adapter (I wonder to what the DK39 without adapter really fits), connect power adapter with micro USB Steckerchen, stand. But one must not be particularly bright.

The Z2 is simply a top, then pushes it a bit back and forth until it makes loud clack, the magnet packs and Tablet snaps downright.
After a little training, you can then also to put the Z2 immediately and without attachment to the right place.
Once the tablet is properly seated, the display turns on the notification LED on the top right lights up red: We invite.
Once the Z2 is reasonably full, the LED color changes to green.
"To some extent" because the Z2 will signal its fullness already just before reaching 100%. The Sony has probably set up because the "last meter" take loading always a little to much longer. So is green, "Can take down the thing, is virtually full, much fuller's is not, but takes."

The company goes down without any problems, if one does so: grab Z2 and tilt it forward; you can feel when solves the magnet. Then you just take it out, the DK39 remains normal stand.
Not if you tilt the Z2, raises you the charging station with high maintenance is a flyweight.

More is not.

Features
You can adjust the Z2 so that when connected to the DK39 certain actions are triggered to stand on "Smart Connect" countless things available: start apps, play sounds; incredibly many possibilities - and that too with different actions at different times that you usually do not need any.
But nevertheless it excites, perhaps to use the Z2 in the charging station as an electronic picture frame. I like such rigmarole actually not - but the Z2 seduced by its brilliant display with the fine black levels a little bit to it. And it looks in the DK39 standing just good: With motifs in matching colors, the Z2 so almost to a decorative element in the more or less parlor. We emphasize the "almost". :)

The really good
One can ratzfatz load with the DK39; usually much faster than via USB.
The reason is that a USB power adapter must match the device when the Z2 (and other modern devices) would load quickly. As usual cooks almost every manufacturer their own thing: Samsung devices are loaded really fast only with Samsung-mode power supplies, Sony needs Sony power supplies and so on. Or you have to pay attention to compatibility with third-party if possible. Unfortunately, no such data are usually in the item description.
And then the moaning begins: "The power supply is good for nothing, invites stinking slow!"
And similar.
The problem you have with the DK39 not: I have a good, white Samsung Original AC Adapter flange that gives the S4 or S5. When I plug into the USB port, it does not load faster than the somewhat narrow-chested genuine Sony AC adapter. I clamp it but to the DK39, invites the Z2 with all the juice of 2 amperes that throws the PSU.
Here is just no longer the USB port loaded, but through the special connector on the bottom of Z2. And that seems to not care about compatibility, can by as much lively Ampere how he can get straight.

In a nutshell: It looks as if one could flanging any USB power supplies to the DK39 and always will be charged at full speed. And that does not work via a USB connection.

Therefore, the DK39 is not bad.
It is cave expensive; but to be able to fill in the Z2 in no time from completely flat to energy-defying, can sometimes be priceless.

Load times
When the display is and without massive applications in the background, these approximate charging times (completely empty to the brim) result:
With "no name" power supplies, (when charging due to low amperage at all possible): 15 hours and more
With the genuine Sony AC adapter (1.5A): about 5 hours or something more
With the Samsung PSU ETA-U90 (2 A): about 4 hours or less

Conclusion
Overpriced, lousy delivery, since the power supply is missing.
But: The Z2 makes a good figure in, docking and undocking work quickly, simply and easily loaded at full steam. And having to pluck without fumbling with the USB port cover, and even without the Z2 from the Sony Original Cover SCR12.

Therefore, the thing is still a little better than its reputation. For something that is preparing a bit of joy to every day, I also accept a higher price.
Especially if I did not have to pay him. : D

Hint
If your a PSU with relatively short cables have eg the above-mentioned Samsung PSU:. Does not include to another cable.
Rule of thumb: Longer cable = longer charging times.
Many amperes can be squeezed not so good due to long and / or thin cable.
Let the original cable on the power supply, you pleased fleet load times.
