I read all the works of James Lee Burke published to date in French. Regarding Polars scene featuring Dave Robichaeux, the canvas is always the same: multiple characters and no apparent link for a good half of the plot, lyrical style, philosophical reflections of Dave (so JLB), love of Louisiana. The author is undoubtedly a "liberal" in the Anglo-Saxon sense. The political-philosophical Refexions sometimes cumbersome are also increasingly numerous in the chronology of the author. Translation Christophe Mercier is clearly improved and the level of those of Freddy Michalski. Typographical errors are however not absent. Finally some typical American mistakes or shortcuts could be revised as the one claiming that Robert Capa was a communist, or he "jumped" on a mine. This last statement is true but it is jumping the French military jeep to go to relieve themselves on the roadside. This ignoring the warning pressed the other occupants of the vehicle. This is not the best Robicheaux because of its length but it is still a James Lee Burke.
